“last year we did the Ube and they totally messed up the airline flight time and everything so you get traumatized and then you wanna make sure it doesn't happen again”
Taylor should call or email Mable within 24 hours with a side-by-side comparison of Viking and Tauck small-ship ocean itineraries (specifically Turkey-to-Athens route) and pricing, and ask Mable to specify which itinerary details matter most (ports, dining, onboard activities, etc.).
Full analysis
What happened
Mable called to verify details for her May 8 Uniworld trip to Egypt booked under booking 411-0967 (she and her husband Bruce). She had two immediate issues: (1) unable to open an email attachment containing final travel documents on her laptop (though her husband received it on his phone), and (2) anxiety about flight coordination after a prior Uniworld booking error. Mike resent the documents to an alternate email, walked her through the complete flight itinerary (San Antonio to Dallas to London to Egypt), explained Egypt visa acquisition at Cairo airport (USD $40 cash per person), and confirmed Uniworld ground support would meet them. Mable's anxiety subsided as Mike provided reassurance and detail. She then asked about small-ship ocean cruise alternatives (Viking, Seabourn, Tauck) for a future trip from Turkey to Athens. Mike offered context on premium lines, then transferred her to her travel planner Taylor (who was unavailable but would receive voicemail) to explore Viking and other options. Call ended positively with Mable expressing gratitude.
Emotional read
Mable started cautious and mildly anxious about documentation and flight details, stemming from prior negative experience with a Uniworld booking. As Mike provided clear explanations about visa processes, airport transfers, and Uniworld's support structure, her anxiety visibly decreased. By mid-call she expressed confidence ('Pretty confident then'), and by end she was enthusiastically exploring future cruise options and thanking the agent warmly.
Emotional arc through the call
Mable began anxious and detail-focused due to prior booking trauma; warmed progressively as Mike provided concrete reassurance about visa process, airport support, and Uniworld's operational protocols, shifting to confidence and enthusiasm by end of call.
How customer sees Pavlus
- positive · appreciated Mike's reassurance that Pavlus goal is to 'eliminate the trauma and the trepidation and the anxiety' and his offer to be available daily before the trip
- positive · thanked Mike 'so much' for his time and expressed confidence after the call, saying 'it sounds like we will be able to feel a little bit less stress'
- negative · experienced prior booking error with Uniworld through Pavlus ('last year we did the Ube and they totally messed up the airline flight time and everything')
- positive · expressed willingness to continue using Pavlus planner Taylor for future bookings and to reach out if additional questions arise
Process friction
- large email attachment containing final travel documents failed to open on customer's laptop, though husband received it on phone
- customer needed to call back after booking to 'capture' flight through Pavlus to enable payment, which she found slightly confusing
Value perception
Mable did not explicitly compare Pavlus to direct or competitor agencies. However, her decision to continue exploring future bookings through Pavlus (requesting connection to Taylor) and her acceptance of the agent's recommendation to compare itineraries before price suggests she perceives value in Pavlus's planner expertise.

Customer: I. Agent (Mike Duran): Good afternoon. Thank you for calling pubs travel home with the best referral programming to travel industry. This is Mike guest relations. How can I help you? Customer: Hi Mike, this is Mabel brown and if I give you my booking number, I just have a few questions real quick 411-0967 it's for Bruce and maple brown. Agent (Mike Duran): Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): I'm sorry ma'am I lost you for just a sec. I apologize for that I'm having trouble with my phone. Give me your booking number. I'll look you up. Customer: Sure. 411-0967. Agent (Mike Duran): Okay, and if I, if it goes dead for a sec, I usually just have to reconnect the call I shouldn't lose you altogether and if I do, I'll call you back. Customer: Okay. Okay, it does sound a little staticky so okay. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, I don't know why it is right now it's windy here and the phone just has issues, when it's windy, it should end but it does. Customer: Oh. Customer: Oh, wow. Yeah, that could do it. Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): Well and I'm just, I'm just having some difficulties with my phone connection anyway, cause it's all comes through the computer. Customer: Oh, oh. I see, okay, okay. Not a problem. Agent (Mike Duran): No challenge sometime. Okay, so this is a unit world trip for may of this year. Yup. Okay. I have your follow up. Customer: For, yeah, first and okay, and you have us for May 8th that we're traveling on that day. So, well two things. The first one is, I was sent a Li, travel guest relation, E. documents and for whatever reason, I'm unable to open it and, and it has like a little. Customer: Paper, what is it a paper clip or whatever but I'm unable to open it for some reason and it's just driving me nuts, what you've got that one now he says he's got his on the phone but I'm on my laptop and now this has happened before where it'll come out on my phone but I can't get my email cause it's not connected yet. But when I look at my laptop I don't get the document or anything. So I was wondering. Agent (Mike Duran): Let me see. Agent (Mike Duran): Okay, well, yeah, that's interesting cause there's, there's quite a few attachments on this. Yeah, so it's a big file. That's probably probably oh, so there's a 12345, there's six attachments on it. Customer: Well, okay, there's a few, okay, it is a big file. Okay, see it's a big file you don't have. Customer: Okay could I have you see, he doesn't, actually, my husband's just saying, okay, now you're saying it's on his phone but not online okay, is it possible if you could resend mine or I mean he's finding his, on his phone. Would you be able to send it on another, another email? If I just give it, it's just a temporary email but would you be able to send it to me? Agent (Mike Duran): Oh, absolutely. Let me, let me get this set up. I'll get it set up here it's forward. Customer: Okay, let me just write it. Agent (Mike Duran): Okay. What is the email? Customer: Okay, it's all lowercase letters it's gonna be my first name. Mable M-A-B-E-L underscore B. Like my last name brown @icloud.com. Agent (Mike Duran): Okay, I, that I, it looks like we've sent something there to you before, cause I just, that pulled up when I started typing it and. Customer: Okay, great. Great. And then I could take a look at that and, and also I know we did a unit world registration, the, you know, their part, and so I think I called at one time and they said, yes, I'm all set up. So that's good. I might call them again just to make sure. And so these documents are the ones that we're gonna take, and that's for our entry for the boat and everything, correct? Agent (Mike Duran): I haven't opened all of them. But these are these are your final docs they should have everything you would need. So even and I'm gonna send it to you right now. So that way I can make sure you get it, you can open it. But the days are really needing anything are kind of over. If you, I say you showed up with no paperwork at all you would give him your name. They pull you up and they you'd know it take, it would take longer to get in and you you'll probably, I'm not sure if you know where does it but you probably have a an online check-in or something. Most cruises now you, check-in a few days before that expedites your boarding process. Customer: Oh, okay, okay. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Okay. Well hope, hopefully it's gonna be a smooth one. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah. And this is, yeah, this has your flight, this has your itinerary, your cruise ticket, and your passenger contract there. Customer: Okay, and from what I'm seeing, it looks like there has been no changes on the flight time or I mean, this would update it of course, right? I can't tell if it's the same flight can't tell. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, this. Agent (Mike Duran): So, yeah. So this is the most current document if what you can expect. If there are any changes to your flight that'll come as an independent advisement. So they'll always send a, independent advisement your flights have changed because that's something, they, they're not gonna hold off until your documents those are gonna update it to you in real time. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay, mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay, okay, I just wanna make sure I make it on time to the airport too. So okay, so I do have just to kind of go over if you don't mind my flight, I'm looking at May 8th so here's the time 1:32 PM is the take-off time and we arrive Dallas. Well, it doesn't say what time duration is? One hour and from Dallas. Agent (Mike Duran): So, this shows you're flying San antonio to Dallas Fort Worth your first flight. Customer: Yeah, I don't remember. It'd be, I guess it is an hour, I guess it is an hour mm-hmm. Agent (Mike Duran): And then that leaves at 1:32 arrives at 2:50 so it's not. Customer: Okay. See, I don't have 250 on here oh, here it is, oh, arrive here we go. Okay, let me underline it, it's, cause this is a little hard to read. Okay, okay. And then. Agent (Mike Duran): And then to ha, has all your, yeah, are you, did you want me to document I sent you? Customer: Yeah, well my husband opened it from his but I, I've got to look under my cloud so I've got to take a look at that one but he was able to get his through his phone. So I'm looking at 2:50, okay, and then we leave Dallas to London at 4:50 PM and then arrive there the next day at 8:05 AM. And then, Leen we leave at 10:10 AM London to I, and arrive at 5:20 and we should have a unit world cause I think I added that in our registration to pick us up, I guess, you know pick us up there at the airport to meet us there. Agent (Mike Duran): Yup. Agent (Mike Duran): Yup, that's what I see. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, if you have, if you have flights with, with the unit world. So that should be also somewhere here. Let's see. Agent (Mike Duran): Glass. So, so this the documents that are sent to you let's see. Agent (Mike Duran): Should, it should talk, yeah. So on the on the first attachment on page eighteen, actually page seventeen it talks about transfers. It says if you purchase your error through your world your flights coincide with your transfers. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay, and I, and I think we did that because it was funeral that found the flight. But then, what, I guess what's confusing is and I still had to call you guys to like capture it so that I could pay for it. And I mean, I think that's the way it went. Yeah, okay. Alright. So I'm just kind of going through here, just making sure. And it looks pretty good. May 10th. I see already the May 20th and then we leave London at 12:55. So there's some really good timing there. And then arrive where I see. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, so, yeah. Customer: Oh, we arrive at 9:40. No, 1010, no, 9:40. I'm just trying to learn to read this. Oh, here we go 9:40 PM in Dallas and then arrive San antonio at. Customer: Here we go. 1052. Customer: Okay. It looks all good. It looks like the same thing. Well, I guess, that's pretty much it. Then I just wanted to make sure on the flights and making sure that we have the documentation. The flight scared me because last year we did the Ube and they totally messed up the airline flight time and everything they didn't match, they didn't connect and I don't know why they did that and it was because we had booked early or something, I don't know. But anyway, so you get traumatized and then you wanna make sure it doesn't happen again. So very good. Well, I think that's it. Mm-hmm. Agent (Mike Duran): Oh, that you know. Okay, good. If so, as, as you're looking through this, if other questions pop-up call us. We don't where we here to reduce the trauma. Customer: Mm-hmm. Okay. Customer: Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): Actually our goal is to eliminate the trauma and even the trepidation and the anxiety, you know, if you have to ask again please do we're here to, to get those questions answered. We, our goal is that as you're getting closer to this trip which is just a very short time away with three weeks now. Is, is when you, that week of your trip you're like, okay. We've touched everything our eyes are daughter, our tees are cross, we're ready to go and have an Amaz vacation and if you have to call us every day between now and when you leave, call us, call us. You know that it's weird. Customer: Okay. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Yes. Customer: Yes. Customer: I hope not. Customer: Okay, I did think of something right now. I did think of something and that is we're taking one luggage piece each and, and I've always, I've always, I've always known that the rule is no more than £50 is there, has it changed or anything cause I don't think I'm taking anything like really heavy cloth or nothing cause it's not winter. So I think everything's pretty light but we need to keep it at least under $50, right? Agent (Mike Duran): Uh-huh. Agent (Mike Duran): That is a general rule of thumb but you would need to go to your airlines website to, and, and you could just at your airlines website, just check-in luggage terms, and it'll tell you, but that is a, a pretty much global rule of thumb of £50 once it exceeds £50 and it's considered heavy. And then, and then they're gonna charge you additional for, for and, and they have a scale of every pound, every £5 or whatever. So, but yeah, if you, if you keep your bag at £50 or less, you should be okay. That's a pretty much a universal number. Yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Customer: Yeah, okay. Customer: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Customer: Yeah, that, that's what I'm thinking, yeah, okay, alright, and I'm thinking that's just about it and then, oh, and about the visa. So we looked at you tobe we looked online and all that stuff and it almost sounds, and tell me if I'm, it almost sounds like we're okay to get our visas when we get there, but then I was telling my husband what if there's a long line, maybe it would have been better to pre get them. Agent (Mike Duran): So, that would be. Agent (Mike Duran): Reasonable train of thought if you weren't going to Chiro there, there, there will likely not be along line. So what's gonna happen and kyro is one of the exceptions to that. So what happens in Chiro is, is your, when you arrive with uni world, they're gonna direct you to a person or a kiosk and. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Oh, okay. That's good. Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): And then, and then at that place, you're gonna present your passport and, and here's the other thing that you may or may not have been advised. So generally speaking, I don't know specifically, but generally speaking, they're gonna ask for like $40 of US cash and they're gonna give you a sticker and put it in your, and put it in your password and that's all there is to it, it's the most efficient way to get your transit visa. Customer: Okay, okay. Customer: Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): In Egypt and specifically in high, so, it's gonna it, and, and I have never heard of anybody saying, oh, my gosh, it was just a huge line, it was like, TSA checkpoint. It's usually a pretty quick process, because they do it everyday all day. And, and you are un, world representative is gonna find you at customs most likely and guide you to the next step step to get that. Cause that's a very critical piece to the puzzle is you're not gonna want to leave the Chiro airport without that sticker. Customer: Mm-hmm okay. Okay. So it's. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay. Alright. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Very good. And we're going to have our cash on-hand we're gonna take like ten twenties so we can give the exact change you know. We're going to have that ready for each of us so. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, and this is the one of the, yeah, and, and generally speaking especially in the, I, they'll, this is the ones but I found it interesting that they're asking for US dollars. So Jo, you normally want to have a little bit of local currency for small vendors and stuff like that. But this in this case they're, I think it's because it's an airport and it's easier for them and they're just saying, you know, just bring US dollars and we'll do that now. As, as the US dollar begins to deteriorate as it's doing under this administration. Then that could change but that's not now. So you're, it sounds like you're prepared. It sounds like you're a good shape they're gonna, they're gonna take good care of you as soon as you arrive you know, world is, is really good about that they're going to get you to the next step and then after you get your reset in the airport then they'll guide you to your, to get your luggage and to get your transfer. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Okay. So you know, world representatives will be there to kind of walk through for most of it or not most of it but I mean, to get to where we need to go, right? So that's good it sounds like me. Well that sounds really good. Agent (Mike Duran): Yes, yes! I, yeah, absolutely. Customer: Pretty confident then. Okay, very good. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, you're not gonna and, and they're gonna find you right there at on your arrival point. Usually it's right after customs and then they're gonna take it from there. But in your documents there's, there's gonna be a page there. That's gonna have an emergency contact number for, or if something happens now. The good news is because you have air with unit world. They're going to be monitoring so they're gonna be aware of any issues that are happening real time, but. Customer: Oh, okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Oh, good. Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): There's still, there's still numbers there, so find that number put, put it in your phone or something because let's, let's just say not that I want I drive, just calm you down. I don't wanna did you say again but just worst case scenario you show up and you're like, okay worst you guy and find that number to call it. And but I, the world is very responsible, they're good about taking care of their guest as soon as they arrive, I think you're going to be in great hands. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay, mm-hmm. Customer: Oh, well it sounds like, well it sounds like we will be able to feel a little bit less stress. So it sounds pretty good. I do have a question now that you talk about you know, world on like another boat. I don't know if you could answer this but what is the difference let's say with maybe Viking or other ones because we're looking at also Viking for the next one and I'll be calling maybe Taylor for that, I don't know but we're looking into that one. So, do you know anything? Agent (Mike Duran): So, Viking is a, is there, yeah, Viking a good choice. It's, as far as I know, I'm not as, as up to speed on all that but as far as I know, they're gonna be a smaller vessel. So, so Viking is considered small, if you're going, and then you're talking about going Viking ocean. Customer: Mm-hmm. Agent (Mike Duran): I can't remember. Customer: Well, we're actually looking at one and I don't even know what boat it is. I don't know if it's a boat or a half crew. Oh, you did, yeah, it's less than a thousand people so it turkey to Athens. Agent (Mike Duran): So, so you're thought, yeah, so you're talking vice cause Viky does, they're known for the river cruise and then they have that, that's considered small ship ocean and there's a few companies. Yeah, so it's not like, and, and even unit world is smaller, but it's not I guess when you're comparing them to like, your big giant vessels like, princess rug rebbe those that have like anywhere from five to 7000 passengers. So it becomes a more intimate experience and, and I, to me it just seems to be, it would be a bunch more pleasurable your small ship ocean Viking is a premium line, they're gonna take great care of you that, and another one that you may want to consider that's kind of in the same vein is the, to, they actually offer a small. Customer: Yes. Customer: Oh, small ship ocean, okay. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Oh, yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Top. Yes, I saw the top one also. I saw that one too. Well, that is very interest. I like the information I got and is it possible for you to connect me to Taylor, or can you help me to look at the Siky special? Agent (Mike Duran): No, I can do that. So, I see that your travel planner Pam does that change? Customer: It was. Oh, who is the name Pam? Agent (Mike Duran): Pam, Chavis. Customer: Pam tra no, I didn't know it changed but I don't mind talking to her if I have to. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, cause Pam is your, you may have worked with Taylor because Pam was out of the office but I see that Pam is your, actually I'm wrong. I, I'm sorry let me go back, fine, let me go back to your, I was in a different booking already. Let's go back to your, that. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay. Agent (Mike Duran): Nope, it's Taylor. Yeah, let me see if she's still here. Customer: Okay, thank you so much. I really appreciate your time on this. Okay? Just so you can. Thank you. Agent (Mike Duran): Oh, it is my pleasure. So, Taylor is out for the day she left at 4:30. I can put you through her voicemail and then when she comes in, in the morning, she can get to, to work on that or call you to talk about your Viking trip. You're looking for. Yeah, she. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay, that sounds really good. Alright, if you don't mind and I might send her an email too so mm-hmm. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, that's a good idea. She she's gonna give you the details and, and you might ask her, you know, at that point to, you know, compare your small ship ocean op options. You know, I think you're in the premium lines, I think that's what you're kind of looking at Viking is a good choice. How's a good choice if you're wanting to go into a higher level of marble luxury line that you're going to like, and stuff like that where it's more of a, a yacht experience. Customer: Okay. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Oh. Yes, silver sounds nice, yeah. Okay. Well very good. Mm-hmm that's true, that's true. Agent (Mike Duran): But, but you, but you pay for that experience, you pay for the premium experience and, and I will say in my opinion that the two companies easier actually considering biking and talk, in my opinion, there are two of the companies that lead and. Customer: Mm-hmm. Agent (Mike Duran): And what they present is they put second only to your health and safety is your experience. They put a lot of effort to making sure that your experience is that. And that's why they're the leaders in repeat business, people become loyal to them because they trust that they're going to get their money's worth the value. Is there as a matter of fact how is one of the only companies that I'm aware of that can put an itinerary out let's say eighteen months in advance with no pricing and it'll still be seventy percent sold out in a week without prices. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Oh, wow. Oh, my good. Well, I believe that, I believe that a long time ago I was a travel agent back in the eighties and there was talk and there was also globus. Globus. Was another one. Yeah, that was another one that they had really nice brochures and everything. But that was a long, long time ago. Agent (Mike Duran): Yeah, globus there. Agent (Mike Duran): What global globus is still around. They're like, they, if we're planting on, on Chers globus would be a tier, just one tier lower, there are a better price point if that, if it's, if you're looking for a budget friend the option but to just hit a hundred years old, talks been around for a hundred years, and talk is one of the few American based companies. So they're American company and, and publish travel is the number one seller to in the world. It has been for 24 years. Customer: So. Customer: Mm-hmm, yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Wow. Customer: Yes, that is true, that is true, mm-hmm. Customer: Wow! Well, we might take a look at the tow thing and I'd like to see, I'm sure their itinerary is gonna be really very nice and. Agent (Mike Duran): So. Agent (Mike Duran): I would. Agent (Mike Duran): Oh, there and, and I was just gonna say that's the thing you know, look at them both and look at the itinerary, so that's usually the driving factor is they're going to be slightly different. One is especially, as a former travel agent, one's going to be more appealing to you than the other. And, and then you can decide, okay, and then you can compare price after that. Okay, well, it tops a little more expensive but do I get the same thing? Do I get more? And then, and these are, these are, these will be really good conversations and, and Taylor will be able to elaborate on all of that with you and help you make the choice that's gonna work best for you. Customer: Yes. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Of course. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Yeah. Customer: Mm-hmm. Customer: Okay. Well it sounds, well it sounds really good. I'm gonna look at the to, cause I think we got something not long ago and but I don't know if I saw you know, a schedule like with, at, between Athens and turkey. I think what happened was Viking kind of featured something and it showed Athens to turkey and vice versa. I think that's what caught my attention but I don't know if to had that. Agent (Mike Duran): Well, I don't know either but that's always, you know, that, like I said, that itinerary usually drives the first round of choices and then it goes from there. But I'll put you through to her voicemail now. It's been a pleasure speaking with you ma'am and we'll get you going. Thank you ma'am, have a wonderful evening. Customer: Mm-hmm, yeah. Customer: Okay, very good. Alright, sounds, sounds like a great deal. Thank you very much. Okay, you have a blessed day. Alright, the rest of the day. Thank you. Agent (Mike Duran): Thank you.
