Call Kevin back today or tomorrow with confirmation that the February 14, 2027 Tauck New Zealand tour holds two spots for him and Carrie, deposit amount, and full tour details including current hotel status; follow up separately when primary planner returns to confirm gift of time eligibility once Tauck makes official 2027 announcement.
Full analysis
What happened

Kevin called to inquire about a Tauck New Zealand tour departing February 14, 2027, with his wife Carrie. His primary concern was whether the 'gift of time' hotel promotion (which he has received on four prior Tauck tours) would apply to 2027 bookings, and when Tauck would officially announce this. Fia clarified that the promotion has not yet been announced for 2027 but is expected to return, and that hotel confirmations typically occur six months before departure. When the agent encountered technical issues accessing the Tauck website to verify availability, Kevin offered to help troubleshoot. Ultimately, Kevin requested a hold on the two available spots through early January, with a callback from the agent before final commitment. Fia agreed to place the reservation on hold, send details via email (KH_rose@yahoo.com), and follow up when Tauck's primary planner (Pam or 'Sam') returns from time off.

Emotional read

Kevin was relaxed and casual throughout, opening with friendly greeting. He remained patient and good-natured despite technical difficulties (agent unable to access Tauck website). He showed mild hesitation about committing before seeing final tour details, but remained 99% confident in the booking decision. No frustration or tension surfaced.

Emotional arc through the call

Kevin started casual and friendly, remained patient and cooperative when technical difficulties emerged, and ended slightly cautious by requesting a callback before finalizing rather than authorizing the charge immediately.

How customer sees Pavlus
  • positive · implied familiarity and comfort working with Pavlus on multiple prior Tauck tours, referencing 'I usually deal with them' and mentioning four completed tours
  • neutral · acknowledged that agent Fia was filling in for primary planner who was out of office, showing acceptance of staff coverage
Process friction
  • agent unable to access Tauck tour operator website during call, delaying real-time availability verification
  • customer information stored in system in a way that made credit card on file difficult to locate ('took a long time for me to find that part')
Value perception

Kevin showed no explicit hesitation about Pavlus's value; his repeated bookings with them on Tauck tours suggest he perceives adequate value, though his request for a callback before committing suggests preference for reassurance over immediate conversion.

Agent (Fia Bauer): Thank you for holding, this is I. How may I assist you?
Customer: Hey, so this is Kevin rose. How you doing today?
Agent (Fia Bauer): Good, how are you doing sir?
Customer: Good, I usually deal with them and I guess she's out of the office for a couple of days. So I just got an email from me, from Pavlus reference to top tours.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Customer: And I have a question I want to go to New Zealand in Australia or New Zealand. Zealand only in 2027.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Hey.
Customer: And they have a date, I'm looking at now, way back when. What not way back when every time I go with top it offer a free room like the day before or something that, that's.
Agent (Fia Bauer): The gist of time, yes, they will. Yes. They have not yet officially announced that it's back for 2027 but we assume that it will be.
Customer: Oh, okay. I just didn't know when they usually announced it if it was like first of the year or summer or something.
Agent (Fia Bauer): The date can sometimes change but I mean again we anticipated it is so anything that you book will show an unconfirmed hotel, but typically if you're a pass passenger, it will.
Customer: Yeah, yeah.
Agent (Fia Bauer): It will, it will eventually show up tip it if we go by the last couple of years the gift of tie is effective January 1st through July 31st. So that's what we have been seen.
Customer: Oh, Jeez. Okay, because I'm looking at a tour. I don't wanna, obviously book it today, do I have to wait till January 1st to see if that comes open? Is that what you're saying?
Agent (Fia Bauer): No, not at all. You certainly don't have to wait at all but it's just everything that we've been booking into 2027 because their contract for the hotels are not finalized. They just say things like unconfirmed hotel and typically, it will remain unconfirmed until about six months prior to the trip but if we're getting super technical, they have yet to announce the gift of time but I'm pretty positive that it will be brought back. It's just not been officially announced but and that's legally more than anything.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: We.
Customer: Okay. No, no, I understand. So should I wait, here's the stupid question, I want to book a tour, but I want to give a time. So, should I wait till next week to see if, see if they announce it?
Agent (Fia Bauer): I don't think it, I mean it, it's still not going to show up on your invoice because the actual hotel is not going to be confirmed probably for like another year so I get on the.
Customer: Yeah, but they, he, okay keep talking. Yeah.
Customer: Cause I, I've done four tax tours and I've always got the gift the time.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, I like I said I doubt seriously that it's going anywhere but it's just not going to be announced anytime soon and even if the gifts of time isn't brought back until March 1st which is not going to happen but the hotel will not be named and not be secured until about six months prior. So I don't know what's going on. I can't even get into the help. Lefts. That's weird.
Customer: Yeah, no it, yeah.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Oh, I'm on there right now. I don't, I do, I didn't when I was calling you guys, yeah, there's a co tour that I'm interested in, it's New Zealand but I don't know if you guys can look at it at all.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I'm trying but it's not doing anything for me.
Customer: Okay. Yeah, I'm in there and, and there's a couple in 2027 that says limited so I didn't know if limited means like 2468 whatever.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Limited, can need anything from one spot to about six spots so I'm not certain and we still cannot book online I can't even get in their site. Oh, my gosh.
Customer: Yup.
Customer: Yup, got it.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: That's bizarre, I'm on there @to.com.
Agent (Fia Bauer): That's what I'm trying to get on.
Customer: Maybe you have time signing up all your bandwidth is what I'm doing now.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I don't, I mean, I have no idea when it comes to anything technological, oh, I just, I have no idea. But yes essentially we can still make sure we can still make sure that you can get the gift of time. It's just not going to show up on any invoice probably for about depending on when you want to go about a year. But yes, as far as we know there has been nothing that states that program has changed.
Customer: There you go. Cool. Alright, well, yeah. Okay. How about I can call you guys.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah, okay, okay, so, if you can't get in the top website, do you want me to call you back?
Agent (Fia Bauer): I can certainly take the notes and call unless they're having an issue, I mean, I can certainly go ahead and call them. What is the date that you want?
Customer: If you want?
Customer: The date that I want is February 14th, 2027.
Customer: It's a small group and it says limited.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, I mean, we can certainly go ahead and make sure and there's two of you traveling.
Customer: Yup.
Customer: Yeah, yeah, I'm Kevin rose R-O-S my wife is Carrie.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, alright, and.
Customer: We yeah, Al knows that we are.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Let's see and weird.
Customer: You got my name in there. You need a phone number.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I've got your name. I've, I'm looking at everything the only thing I don't show is a credit card on file.
Customer: That's weird cause I paid you guys all the time it should be a visa. 5331.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Oh wait no I found it. It is, it's just, yeah, the way Pam has this set up she's got everything like every single loyalty number and everything in here, so it just took a long time for me to find that part so yeah, if that's what you're wanting to do and if there's two spots left on the February 14th I can certainly go ahead and reserve that.
Customer: Yeah, yeah.
Customer: Yeah, got it. Yeah.
Customer: Yeah, can you call me back before you do it? I mean, I'm 99 percent sure I want to do it but I just wanted you to say there's two spots or something and here's the deposit.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I can go ahead and hold it for you and then if you're ready to pull the trigger, it will hold through. What's today? It'll hold through new year's eve, well actually you know what, I could possibly extend it through Friday because of new year's. Even new year's day. I don't think that would be a problem. But yeah, so I can go ahead and hold it and send it to you. I have no idea when Sam is coming back. I thought she was going to be back but I guess I'm wrong.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yeah, okay.
Customer: The, yeah, I thought so too. The receptionist said she showed her out till Wednesday. But Wednesday is a Holl it's Wednesday, a holiday now. It's, yeah, yeah.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Well, we're here for half a day on Wednesday but that is still surprising to me so, I don't know that.
Customer: Got it.
Customer: Yeah, me too. I figure should be in like next week. I, well, I thought she was back this week but yeah, god, don't know, yeah.
Agent (Fia Bauer): So, so I but who knows but but yeah, so I will go ahead and, go ahead and hold it for you and then send for your review and we'll go from there.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah, and you got my email. Right? KH rose at Yahoo.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yes.
Customer: Alright, cool, sounds good. I'll be waiting for that email sometime today. Sounds good, thanks. Sounds good, have a good day. Thank you, bye-bye.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, sounds good. I'll go call now. My pleasure. Bye-bye.
