Full analysis
What happened

Kevin called to approve a river cruise quote and submit an e-check deposit. The bulk of the conversation centered on his complex multi-leg trip planning: he wants to combine a South Africa cruise or tour with a European river cruise to justify the long-haul airfare. He's exploring whether to start/end a Viking river cruise in a major hub like Amsterdam or Munich to connect onward to Africa, and is comparing Viking River Cruises, Regent Seven Seas, and Abercrombie & Kent options. Pam provided general guidance on itinerary sequencing and shared her personal experience with Regent and Viking. Kevin remained focused on pricing structures and air add-on comparisons but did not commit to a specific itinerary. The call ended with the deposit authorized and an open-ended 'let me know' from Pam.

Emotional read

Kevin is pragmatic and direct, using casual language and occasional profanity as part of his natural conversational style rather than frustration. He's engaged and curious—actively researching on his laptop during the call—but somewhat indecisive about the overall trip structure. He maintains a friendly, joking tone throughout (e.g., 'sounds stupid but it's just whatever') and shows trust in Pam by deferring to her expertise on regional differences and pricing.

Emotional arc through the call

Kevin started transactional (approving the quote) but warmed into a collaborative planning discussion; by mid-call he was actively brainstorming with Pam and joking about his indecision, though he remained cautiously evaluating alternatives rather than fully committed.

How customer sees Pavlus
  • positive · praised Pam as knowledgeable ('You're a smart lady') and expressed comfort asking her complex planning questions
  • neutral · noted that Pavlus 'always send emails out about biking' and regional sales/upgrades, indicating familiarity with their marketing
  • neutral · acknowledged Pam's personal travel experience as relevant to evaluating Regent vs. Viking, but did not explicitly praise or critique Pavlus's research support
Value perception

Kevin appreciates Pam's willingness to help structure a complex itinerary and her personal experience, but is comparison-shopping carefully. He noted that competitor cruise lines (e.g., Abercrombie & Kent) display air pricing differently and questioned whether Viking's air offerings are competitively priced—'my neighbor doesn't… she said using Viking air sucks compared to what the other cruise companies offer.'

Agent (Pam Chavez): Hi Kevin.
Customer: Hey, yeah, that quote looks good, if you want to put a deposit.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Okay. With your E. check.
Customer: Yeah, let's do an check and I got a, whenever you, I got another question for you, have to put your thinking cap on.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Okay.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yeah, oh, no.
Customer: No, you're, this is what you need. This is what you get paid to do, right? You're a smart lady does sky, let me use this silly discount again, if I book a river cruise for say $2,025 or is this a one time? Good deal.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Which in the P-V whatever it is a day or whatever. Yeah, oh, no, yeah, no, that make a manage you want.
Customer: That F-V 3:24.
Customer: Oh, okay. Yeah, I didn't know, yeah, no, here here's the one question we still want it. We, I, I'd stay await thinking about this, I don't, but I think about it all day we want to do the tow you know, far gig down to South Africa and I want to tie it on with the European trip because our take on life is it's so damn far. You know, we're over there, we do something else, yeah, so I'm trying to, I'm trying to sync it up with a Viking trip. Just, you know, number one the break it up and do something the number two if I can you know, get biking airfare for 3000 to Europe and I can work, worry about getting to, you know Africa from there.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Mm-hmm Africa, mm-hmm uh-huh.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, gotcha. Mm-hmm.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Mm-hmm.
Customer: So, my question you, yeah, it's, so that's kind of what I'm thinking of doing. Sounds stupid but it's just whatever.
Agent (Pam Chavez): No I, I get it, yeah, it is, I mean, it is such a such a distance to get to South Africa.
Customer: Yeah, and.
Customer: Yeah, and I'm looking at trying to, you know, do a cruise that starts, or ends, obviously you know, near, near a, a town with an airport like Munich or someplace. You know, we can catch up. Yeah, so so yeah, so I'm thinking about the Dani.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Aster dam, Asda might be an idea.
Customer: Yeah, we did one of them but there's another one we haven't done. So maybe, maybe we do Amster I was looking at KLM and I think they do fly, not stop down there, well tape ton or something.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Too. Yeah, I think they do to that. That my, my reason for actually saying that one because you know, I think that it will probably be a nice.
Customer: Yeah.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Place to, to, to go from to go to ca.
Customer: Yeah, and the other nice thing is we could start our cruise there and then ended there and we could just do the Viking air deviation whatever. And then and then fly back there you know, from a Johannesburg and then I guess fly home like a day or two later screw after if we want. Yeah. Cool, alright, well I'll be, yeah, I'll take a look. I know they have one, we, we've done two little two windmills but I think they have something else in and something else.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yeah, yeah.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Mm-hmm have you, have you actually been Steve? I'm doing a chilo cruising October. And it's, yeah, it is. What is it? Let's see. It is a, but I've never, I've never been to this area but I've been to Amsterdam. I mean, have you been to the what, let's see the name of the places. I mean the name of the cruises called?
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah, you are. Wow.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yeah, I'm gonna look it up where you were talking.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yeah, yeah. Oh, hidden waterways of Flanders and Holland. What is slanders but it starts, and Brussels and ends and aster down. Okay.
Customer: Is it?
Customer: Well that's the, that's Belgo, yeah. Flanders is a they used to call in that area, Flanders but let me let's see that would probably be cruises cruiser wherever it, in ver cruise, right?
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh.
Agent (Pam Chavez): You know if you, if you, if you on the Tel, website you just click on the search button and just type in hold then you, it'll come up the believe me sometimes that website goes so Bizarro me ask for hall and it brings up Japan.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Oh, okay.
Customer: Yes. Yeah, yeah, I know when you put in one date and something totally different comes up, I know what you mean, alright, let me look it up, but.
Agent (Pam Chavez): I'm just very curious about this thing since you said you've been there before.
Customer: Yeah, no, it's, I yeah, I've never done anything like that one so here's something I could look at and of course the top things all. Yeah, let me type in Holl and see if it says something.
Customer: Here we go.
Customer: No. Yeah, there's a river cruise, it says an in delta, that's probably not it isn't.
Agent (Pam Chavez): No, it's called it, it's called a hidden waterway Flanders and Holland.
Customer: Okay. Yeah, let me. Oh, there it is, yeah, Brussels. And for, yeah, at Vikes, got something. Almost the same thing.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Customer: Yup, almost. Yeah I've never now py they do they use the French company's boats. I know that they don't have their own ships do they?
Agent (Pam Chavez): Who else? I can't remember the name of the company? No, no, not pu, pu, on not would be the name of it but yeah, I know these are not, not boats cause the river, the pus are the ships, the large ship said the ocean not large, small, large ships. I can't remember what the name of the.
Customer: Is it point on or some bullshit? Lo point to it. Not, right, yeah.
Customer: Oh, okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Okay, I just curious there. It says the name of the ship. It says M-S inspire, whoever the hell.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Actually, I think it's on the M-S grace, if I remember correctly. The one that we're going to be on and stuff. But yeah, I, I've.
Customer: Okay. Yeah, what are you doing one in August or something or?
Agent (Pam Chavez): No, we're doing it in October, I kinda, cause I've got, yeah, cause I've got like too many things going on this year so we're going to Hawaii next month, and then we're going to, and then we're going to my birth, my husband's never been to Hawaii, so we're going to go do that with my coworker. And then, then when we get back we've got like what, three weeks here maybe less than. And we go on a region cruise from it's on both Athens. I'm pretty excited about that.
Customer: Oh, okay. This year obviously. Yeah.
Customer: Oh, wait.
Customer: No, wow.
Customer: Yeah, yup.
Customer: How did you like region? Do you like region?
Agent (Pam Chavez): I well, yeah, I have not actually failed with them like on a real cruise in since a hundred years because it was like a long, long, long time ago that I actually went on one but I, but I did go on the, I did go on the $1,000 door, the brand-new. One, the new ship but it was this a cruise out of Los Angeles and oh, god, it was like three days and the, it was that time when the waters were so rough in Los Angeles and stuff and we were only supposed to go from Los Angeles to Sina. And I owe my god. I was like.
Customer: Yeah, right.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Oh, okay.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Oh, yup. Yup.
Customer: That bad. Wow.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I literally, cause we got there on Saturday, you know, checked in on Saturday. Saturday was okay Saturday night was okay. Sunday. I got up, went to breakfast with rose and we go looking at all the rooms. Cause, that's what we're supposed to do is kinda like take pictures of the nice rooms and everything and then we sat down for lunch after taking a nap of course and I got up to the top deck to the, wherever the do do deck is what I call it but.
Customer: Yeah, right.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Oh, okay. Yup.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Auston I think I went fly. I couldn't, I mean, you know, we're drinking Champaign like crazy when we first got on the boat but the shift was sitting still but then yeah, that day it started moving and it's like, oh, my gosh. So I literally, I skip skip lunch and I went to the front desk and asked for something for motion and I apparently everyone was doing the same thing. I wasn't the only one. But, yeah, I sent the entire date in the, in my room, was beautiful room didn't, didn't do dinner, didn't do lunch, didn't do anything. I just, I was, yeah. It was not, it was not cool.
Customer: Wow, of course when you get up. Yeah, yeah.
Customer: That's pretty wild.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Damn.
Customer: Oh, shit, yeah.
Customer: Wow! That's pretty wild. Yeah so would you think a region? Cause I've never, what. Oh, okay yeah my neighbor doesn't I, I'm not, I don't like to get dressed up you know with coat and all that hole shit and no that's what he told me. He said he took, I think a support code and he were maybe twice and yeah.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yeah one oh, I got there fantastic.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, you don't have to do that, not on. No.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yeah, a a shirt and just a shirt. Nice pans or whatever, that's more than fine. Right?
Customer: Well, that's what Vikey did I just wear a button shirt and, and like doctors, I don't wear a tie or in that stupid shit so I didn't know if region you know made to do that stuff. Did they do the stuff like king where they give you free Bere line with meals or do they make you pay?
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, gosh, no, they're all include, everything's included. Yeah, yeah. So, that's that, that's the beautiful thing about it. It's, yeah, it's a, it's a really nice nice cruise cruise line.
Customer: Oh, is it okay? Oh, shoot.
Customer: Yeah, okay.
Customer: Alright, I'll have to take a look and see what they got cause I, you know, Viking's good. But sometimes you want to see something a little difference for the hell of it. Cool. I know you guys always send an emails out about biking. I mean, the region sales like, upgrades and all sorts of stuff. Yup. Alright.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Right.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, yeah. Mm-hmm yeah, there's they're. Yeah, they are, they're really good so, yeah, I of.
Customer: Do they handle a, do they do air fair and conjunction with the cruise or is it more messing with it.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, yeah. And it's business class that they offer.
Customer: Okay, cause I yeah, neighbor of mine uses another cruise company and she said that using Viking air sucks compared to what the other cruise companies offer in terms of booking and prices and everything side just curious.
Agent (Pam Chavez): And you know, and in all reality, I'll tell you this. The what am I saying here at the.
Customer: Yeah.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Air on almost any carrier that there's really no control that the companies have like region has no controller. They offer business class and they will give it to you but it may be all over the place because that's all that's available and, and, and you know the airlines Kevin they what sell $44 tickets at business, the lowest business class and then it goes up and up and up. So unfortunately it goes back to them where you know they have to charge more money for a business clap tickets that you want.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Yeah, mm-hmm yeah, yeah.
Customer: Okay, okay.
Customer: Yup, no, they change it. Yes.
Customer: Yup, yup, yup. They get the right.
Customer: Yup, no, I hear you, yeah alright well well like I said that's what I'm trying to put together you know the South Africa gig with talk with you know conjunction with something over Europe so, I'm trying to figure out if I want to do a land to or if I want to do a river cruise or our notion cruiser I don't know what the shit don't want to do, so.
Agent (Pam Chavez): And stuff so.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Right.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Okay, well let me know.
Customer: Yup. Alright. No, I'm still working at, hey, does this one and I have another friend who wants to go to Africa and she said that she was looking at the abaci. And Kent, and she told me they were sold out and just for the shit of it, I went to their website and they're not sold out. So, I we have you, how do you compare it? Have you, do you know anybody that's done, ever cramping can't give me.
Agent (Pam Chavez): I've done a couple of Croy and account so did one South Africa with them and, and they're fantastic. I mean the hotels are like superb. I mean, they're really.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Well I know they use that the one and only or something in Cape town, right? Is that the one they use? I know they use a fancy one. Yeah, I just didn't know how they rack and stack with and you know what, in relation to ta if it's basically the same thing or you know different, okay.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Yes, I believe so. Yeah, mm-hmm mm-hmm.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Right.
Customer: Yeah, cause I know that if you go the N-K website, they have a price and then below it they have the add-on air fair, whereas tab just puts the whole freaking price, cause you got to do the air fair anyway. You can't, you know, get around Africa your own. So, yup. Yup. Alright, cool, sounds like you plan. Yup, thank you Pam, have a good weekend. Talk to you later. Bye.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Oh, no.
Agent (Pam Chavez): Alrighty, I'll go ahead and make that deposit for you. Thanks Ken. Thank you. You too. Bye. Uh-huh bye.
