Full analysis
What happened

Curtis called with questions about his upcoming Viking biking river cruise to Paris departing June 27th. He had booked early arrival (June 26) at a different hotel and was confused about how pre-cruise coordination would work, specifically how to meet the Viking representative when he wouldn't be at the airport. Anastasia reviewed his booking documents, clarified that he had a land package with transfers included, and advised him to contact the hotel front desk or call the ship for host coordination. Curtis also asked about gratuities (included), onboard credits ($150 each, still available), the difference between vouchers and credits (technical distinction explained), and the referral bonus timing (after the trip returns, within a few weeks). All questions were resolved to his satisfaction.

Emotional read

Curtis started slightly confused and uncertain about trip logistics, with some frustration about changes made from original May booking to June. He warmed as the agent worked through his questions methodically, ending the call satisfied and appreciative. His tone shifted from hesitant inquiry to relief and gratitude.

Emotional arc through the call

Started uncertain and slightly confused about pre-trip logistics, gradually warmed and became more confident as Anastasia systematically answered each question, ending the call genuinely appreciative.

Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Good afternoon. Thank you for calling Pavlus travel, this is Anastasia guest relations, how may I help you today?
Customer: Oh, station. My name is Curtis Barbar I got an email from you guys yesterday about my upcoming trip with biking cruise trip and we booked we're going a couple of days early and staying some days late. So I imagine if we were just going on the biking cruise, only somebody from Biky would meet us at the airport and then we would be escorted to the hotel, right?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yes, typically they will do that, I can go ahead and take a look at your reservation. Do you happen to have the booking number?
Customer: Yeah let me see 894-2044.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright, thank you. I have that loading now.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright, I see that. That's the Paris just with outside itinerary starting very soon and are you traveling with a referral or a group or is it just the two of you?
Customer: Yes.
Customer: Well we have some friends that are going with this.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Oh, okay, wonderful. Alright, and let's just take a look here. Do you have a land package through Viking or are you on your own for those first couple of days before you board the ship?
Customer: We're on our own so I know that we're gonna on the twenty seventh, we're going to check-in to the Coleman Paris month. Parna hotel.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Okay.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Got it. Okay, uh-huh.
Customer: And the thing is, I don't know, like who am I supposed to meet there or anything?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, so if you don't have a a pre package with Viking. Well, I see, I do see a land package though, unless I'm looking at the wrong booking. Let me just see here.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, it looks like June 27th it says check-in land package but it says check-in. Hyatt regency Paris at Y-A.
Customer: Oh.
Customer: Okay, I.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Was that still supposed to be on there? Because that's in your final documents from Viking that they sent out yesterday.
Customer: Okay, let me look at those documents. I didn't see that in there but.
Customer: Let's see, so what I've got is the contract and then let's see, journey summary, is that where I would find that?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yes, journey summary and then page.
Customer: Yeah, see chicken land package Saturday June 27th.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yes, so.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): For that, let me just see here Viking let if they did your flights which it looks like they did and do you have their land package then those transfers should be included. They should be transferring you from the airport to the hotel. And then let me see if there's a Viking host involved with this. It'll be one moment.
Customer: Yes the thing is we're coming in early so we're not staying, we're staying at a different hotel the first night we're not staying at the same hotel.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Okay, so you're, oh, I see okay now I understand. I'm sorry. So you're coming in the twenty sixth instead of the twenty seventh staying at a different hotel on the twenty sixth. Okay, I've got it now I fully understand I was worried you have to double booked yourselves. Okay, so in that case you will need to make your way to your hotel that you're staying out on your own and then you'll just want, okay, and then you'll just want to make your way to the hotel the next day to this Hyatt regency power a toilet and then there should be if this is a Viking hosted pre package there should be a host there but let me just look.
Customer: Correct, yes.
Customer: Yup, we can do that.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): I'm reading through your documents, it should give us some additional information. It'll be one moment. Yeah, there'll be a Viking representative at the airport. The date of the pre the land package but.
Customer: But I won't be at the airport.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah! Exactly, exactly. Let me just see here.
Customer: So I'm just trying to figure out how to connect with them at the hotel.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, well as long as they're scheduled to be at the hotel.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): I'm just reading through some additional information, there'll be one moment here once you arrive at the hotel, you should be able to ask the front desk about how to connect with the Viking host there, and then I'm just looking as we speak because I saw a phone number. Oh, I see, that's just the phone number for the hotel. Okay, for the Hyatt.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Let me just take a look to see if there's anything else.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Okay, and then once you're at the hotel if the front desk can't help you to locate your host you'll be able to call the ship and they'll be able to help you with that, and the ship phone number is on page one of that your journey summary.
Customer: Okay, let me see.
Customer: Yup, I see it.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Perfect.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright. And are there any other items I can help with?
Customer: Yeah, so last year we originally booked this, we were going to go in may and we were getting certain package deals and then we changed to going in June and, and so we got something at some stuff, lost some stuff and so I'm getting confused and all of that. So one of the questions I have is our gratuities included.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): I can take a look for you. I'll be one moment.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Just loading some documents here.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright, on your final payment invoice from October.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): I'm just using that to tell me.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): I am showing on that invoice complimentary prepaid gratuities as well as the complimentary silver spirits beverage package.
Customer: Okay, so, so we don't have to do the, it's all included.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): That is correct. Unless somebody on the ship gives you outstanding stellar service and you want to give additional gratuity, you're all set.
Customer: Okay, alright. So my final question to you is that we made and we got like $150 that. Actually I have two more questions, $150 onboard credits I and I've been on biking and see that we already have that.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, let me look at that. I do show $200 each that was both applied and used. Let me just see if there's anything else.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): It'll be one moment.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Just opening another document here.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yes there's a $300 gift from Pavlus travel that was uploaded April 1st it's possible that's been used so let me just look.
Customer: Well, when I look, when I go on biking it shows my wife having $150 on board and me having $150 on board.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Oh, okay. Perfect then if that's the case then that should still be available.
Customer: Okay, and then originally again I don't remember if this is part of the first package or not. I noticed there was like an onboard pack amount you could get, and then the ship board and I didn't know what the difference was.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, that's a good question. So, with Viking the, let me just look here. I want to make sure that I get it right pulling up there their invoice in their language.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright, so.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): And of course this particular one here we go.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): There's a certain type of voucher that they will list that is applied to any item excluding travel protection and gifts, and then there's a type of onboard credit that is applied to short excursions beverage packages and prepaid gratuities, so.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Really. They're almost hoster changeable, but there's a flight technical difference to them.
Customer: So the, on, like the $150 we've been given each, we can use to buy drinks but we've got the spirits package so we don't need that and we've got, we can use we gat but that's already paid so, and I understand we can't take that cash with us afterwards. Can we just like buy stuff on the ship with that money?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): That, right, yes.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Right.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Yeah, they have a little gift shop, typically that should be right there near the guest services desk. You could certainly buy items from there. If there are any additional short excursions that you want to take to use it toward, you could do that as well. That are the paid sure. Excursions. So, or, I know that the drink package doesn't cover the treasure wines. So like, if there's a bottle of treasure wine that you particularly want to purchase, you could buy that as well. So there are a few additional options for using those onboard credits.
Customer: Okay last question. So when we signed up for this and we recommended our friends we were supposed to get a $500 check does that come after our trip is over?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Oh, okay. So yes when you do a referral and we do appreciate that referral. We will, after they book, send you the referral bonus for that. So or, I'm sorry after they travel and so these are friends that are going with you.
Customer: So after we get back from our trip, we'll get the money. Okay?
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Oh, okay. Yeah, so exactly, exactly. We'll send that check. It's usually within a few weeks if you're returning that you received that.
Customer: Okay, well, you had been very helpful thank you very much.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Alright.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Oh, yeah, it's my pleasure. Please call us anytime. Thanks for calling and enjoy your trip.
Customer: Thank you, bye-bye.
Agent (Anastasia Thomas): Bye.
