“We don't have to have a ten but we would like a seven, right... on a scale of one to ten I would have given it a five.”
Next best action
Send Charlie the three French river cruise itineraries (Uniworld, AmaWaterways, and Avalon Provence/Lyon option) with explicit callout of non-lavender excursion alternatives for each day, plus food quality comparisons. Follow up within 48 hours to confirm name change was processed and April 9, 2026 cancellation initiated, then schedule a second call to review his reactions and move toward booking.
Full analysis
What happened

Charlie called to handle three administrative items: correct his wife Donna's misspelled name on a Silversea reservation, cancel an April 2026 Sydney-to-Singapore cruise, and rebook with a French river cruise instead. The agent successfully addressed the name correction and explained the cancellation process. The bulk of the call involved exploring French river itineraries with Avalon as an initial option, but the agent pivoted to suggest Uniworld and AmaWaterways based on Charlie's stated preferences: casual dining flexibility, non-wine-focused activities, countryside scenery, and a food quality rating of 7+. A key constraint—Charlie's wife's lavender allergy—was identified and accommodated by confirming alternative shore excursions. The agent offered to send multiple itinerary options for Charlie to review, and they confirmed specific action items at the end: name correction, cancellation of April 9, 2026 cruise, and email with French river cruise ideas. No booking was completed on this call.

Emotional read

Charlie was upbeat and collegial throughout, opening with friendly banter. He remained patient while discussing technical details and itinerary options, occasionally self-deprecating about his disorganization. By mid-call he warmed noticeably to the agent's knowledge and personalized recommendations, especially around his wife's lavender allergy and dining preferences. His tone stayed steady and appreciative through the closing summary.

Emotional arc through the call

Started cheerful and casual with friendly small talk, maintained positive engagement through technical discussion of itineraries, and visibly warmed when the agent demonstrated knowledge of his preferences and addressed his wife's lavender allergy with creativity, ending the call satisfied and collaborative.

How customer sees Pavlus
  • neutral · Customer matter-of-factly referenced 'Donna's. Name incorrectly spelled' on the reservation without blame, suggesting routine acceptance of Pavlus's administrative role
  • positive · Named agent's colleague Taylor by name as positive reference: 'they're done on a different Viking tour and they hated it because the tour director was horrible' but confirmed Taylor had a great prior tour
  • positive · Accepted agent's recommendations confidently: 'I would, that's what I've heard' re: Uniworld, suggesting Pavlus's reputation for knowledge and curation
Process friction
  • Customer had to spell out wife's correct name letter-by-letter because it was misspelled on the existing Silversea reservation
  • Agent's computer was slow or unresponsive mid-call: 'I don't know what is going on with my computer today, but it has not been cooperating'
Value perception

Charlie did not explicitly state a view on Pavlus's value vs. direct booking or competitors, but his willingness to work through a complex multi-cruise rebook via the agent and his acceptance of agent recommendations suggests he values the curated guidance and administrative handling.

Agent (Fia Bauer): Thank you for calling travel, this is via. How may I assist you?
Customer: Hey, Charlie bush. How you doing this afternoon? I guess, it's still morning. Where you are or not. Yeah, still morning.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Oh, it's still morning for a little bit longer. Where I am. How are you doing Charlie?
Customer: Good! How you doing? I, I've got a laundry list of things to go through with you please ma'am.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okeydokey.
Customer: First thing I'm trying to fill out this guest information sheet for silver cruise and as I do it I noticed that they spelled on the reservation they spelled Donna's. Name incorrectly spelled a. D-O-N-A. A. I guess I didn't pick up on that. You didn't pick up on it and now it silvers. Thanks is Donna, and they said I have to call you to get it changed.
Agent (Fia Bauer): That's fine. That's easily done. We can certainly get that taken care of okeydokey.
Customer: Okay, so you're gonna change it to D-O-N-N-A, right.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, I'll double-check that we'll certainly get that changed immediately.
Customer: Okay, thank you. Second thing is we have a deposit down and booked a cruise for I think it's next April to that include the with that's for like fourteen days and goes from Sydney to Singapore, I believe.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yes sir.
Customer: We need to cancel that cruise and I need to talk to you about booking another one and then was place.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay. Did you want to? What? Well, I guess, my question is, is what are we looking to put in its place because that will affect how I go about canceling it.
Customer: We're probably gonna replace it with a non Oana cruise not that we have anything a gains but we would like to, we would like to do a, a probably Ali unless she has some bad things to say about Avana I got some question sash but Ali in a minute it would probably be in Aris. I'm sorry, in France and it would be sometime, this, hopefully this September or next September would prefer to do it this September.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): You're good.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, which itinerary in France are we thinking about?
Customer: So that's what we're.
Customer: Hang on. So many things.
Customer: That's not it. What? I got to many favors on my desk. They're gonna find it. I should have had that ready and I thought I did but I don't, here it is. French masterpiece.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, let me just get an idea. Let's see. So you've done, Ianna you've done king.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Let me pull up the itinerary so I can see what it's kind of comfortable to with other itineraries I might be familiar with.
Customer: We never travel with have a la so it would be a first for us. We have no idea really what we're getting into, other than what we can read here in some of the material.
Agent (Fia Bauer): They, they've got a big presence on the European rivers, they're certainly not a bad company. I can certainly say that I have traveled with others that I prefer but there's certainly not a bad bad line by any means and it just really depends on the itinerary. Because the one thing that I can say about Avalon, is that because they do partner with globus for their on land tours, they offer a lot more options when it comes to land and river cruise cruise tours, so that's only something you consider like if you're looking at doing, like for example, you did the grand grand European tour, 2000.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: I.
Agent (Fia Bauer): 1016 with biking, if you're looking at the Avon equivalent of that, then I'd be like okay there are definitely other companies that I think are a little bit better but it all depends on the itinerary. So that's why I want to take a quick pe at that. And I'm sorry you said Megan.
Customer: Yeah, please, please do. We were we're impressed with this itinerary but you might tell us something. No, don't do that.
Agent (Fia Bauer): No, no. And you said it was branch.
Customer: No, French master piece.
Agent (Fia Bauer): French master piece. Okay, thank you.
Customer: It starts off in Paris and ends up in bord and it's like fourteen night fifteen days.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, got it, okay. Are you, there's two different options? I got the French master piece, the regular one but then there's also another one that has a world war two remember Ince history cruise.
Customer: No, we're not inter from that.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Alright, got it. So now I know it, see it, stuff like that I like about Al because they offer a little bit more okeydokey so French master Keiso.
Customer: We're not food. So, the quality the food be it squat it, it's not really important to us and we're not really into the you know, three hour you know, five course meal every evening either.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay. Okay, so this is.
Customer: If we were would go to one of the more upscale cruise lines, I think.
Agent (Fia Bauer): So this is a pretty unique itinerary because the majority of them are not going to go this they're going to go a little bit differently. So the majority of the two week ones they will do the Paris to Normandy beaches, like this particular one does but then instead of doing lower France where you go to the region and Bodo, et cetera they'll go a little bit more on the east coast and they'll do Leon and prev, so you are correct that is a very unique itinerary we generally do not see the one that partners with the parent with the San river go into the board do region we generally see it going into prev and the own so, yes, that is a fairly unique itinerary.
Customer: Uh-huh.
Customer: Gotcha.
Customer: So it goes, it goes where again, southeast, southeast of Francis. Where the most of them go.
Agent (Fia Bauer): The one.
Agent (Fia Bauer): The most of them do so you would once you complete Paris you would take a train and instead of going to bord which you do here, you would actually take a train and go down to niece. And then you would sail or board in Nies and then sail up to one and then from Leon you would fly back home, so this is what you need.
Customer: Well, let me ask you this, let me ask you this question we're not we're we enjoy a little bit of wine, we're not wine affection autos either so I'm not too sure I mean if do has outstanding saner then yeah that's where we'd like to go but if we're not really going for the quality of the one.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I will say that it absolutely does. This particular region is definitely frequented by food. So, if that is something that you are not interested in then you may want to look at something that would do the Leo in provance area. Provance is known for their vast lavender fields and then Leon is known for like their I, I'm trying to find the correct words to, to describe it because I might be doing horrible justice do it. But lots and lots of castles like with the Roman quids that's that particular reason region of France. So, it, I mean, it's pretty much impossible to go to France and not have some good wine along but if you are not.
Customer: Does that make sense?
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Understand and we like it. We're just not.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Let me have a glass or two is one thing but spending your entire trip going to different Venus as another.
Customer: Yes and going to different vendors. I mean, we've never done that but not being you, just extreme wine lovers. I can't imagine that being, I imagine that we get a little old after a while. But maybe not, I just didn't know exactly what's on the, what's in the southeast France? Now, you mentioned lavender, my wife is allergic lavender. Is that gonna be a problem?
Agent (Fia Bauer): I yeah.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Well, then, that is not the excursion she goes on. She chooses something else that day.
Customer: Okay, I wouldn't thanks hoping I thought I'd ask you.
Agent (Fia Bauer): No, that's a great question. The last thing I want to do is send you on a beautiful vacation that your wife is allergic too. I do not want to do that. So it, I will say that this particular itinerary is going to be frequent in by any foodies. So I can certainly send you some other options that is not going to go to this particular reason but we'll do the Paris region in the, San up to Normandy and then they will focus on a different part, part of southern France. So I can absolutely send you some ideas but you're right this is a very unique itinerary.
Customer: Okay. Alright.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: I mean, is foro and a beautiful area or is it?
Agent (Fia Bauer): Alright.
Customer: I assume most wineries or, or most wine reasons are Phoenix but I don't know.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yes, I just don't know. I mean it is you're definitely going to see the beautiful palaces and the beautiful proceed Al that you will see throughout throughout Fran but if you are looking you know, specifically for I guess how to describe this.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Do is like mini Paris I think that's the best way to kind of to describe it like the architecture is all very similar the scenery, I mean, obviously you're not going to have the ale tower. But it's similar is quite similar, there's a river that runs through the town, et cetera. So it is, it is, there's nothing I mean, don't get me wrong. Oh, there's really very, very few parts of you know print that are not attractive but if you are looking for more of country side like prevention countries, country side I think Leon, and provance might be a little bit more of what it is you're looking to see that's also going to be in the area of France that has the French outs. So as far as like seen it goes, you it's not going to be as city concentrated but it will definitely be more mountain, it have more Mital, digs and not be as.
Customer: Okay, okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay. And that's a attractive.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): As.
Agent (Fia Bauer): As close to Persian as Bodo is. I don't know if I am doing it justice and I apologize if I'm not. But if you are looking for much more of like a.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): If you are looking for, I guess when you hear the word, like, French country side, that's gonna be Leon, and Provus where as if you are looking for wine regions and more cities, that would be more Boro.
Customer: Okay. But yeah, I've got problems with lavender. My wife does so that pretty much takes that one-off table, right?
Agent (Fia Bauer): Not necessarily, I mean you just don't have to go to the lavender farm. It, it's just that, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's just the day that you don't do that.
Customer: Oh, okay. So you did, did they as I assume they have, they have other you can take out for that particular report. Okay, yeah. No, that works, that works. I misunderstood what's your point was?
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, absolutely, absolutely. So, let me, yeah, I, don't, yeah. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, it's just, like so when I think of France and I think of the French country side, I don't think of big cities, I definitely think of mountains and landscapes and two little Mital towns with, you know, a town center.
Customer: No, that would that would that would ape that would appeal to us Mors the mountains and everything else I would agree with you.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, then. Yes, okay, so then Leon and prev is more of the French that we are looking to do so let me pull up, up all they all do but finding it to combine with parent with the para sand cruise that's gonna be a different itinerary not necessarily hard to find. It's actually a little bit more popular, I just wanted to make sure that we were getting the correct side of France that you're wanting to so I'm gonna send, send you some options so let me do this.
Customer: So what cruise line does that?
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay, I appreciate that.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): And then I also wanna pull up the itinerary just to make sure that lavender field is not the only thing that you have to do.
Customer: Okay, thank you.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, I definitely do not want that. That is absolutely not what I want. Alright, okay, so let's get to.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Alright, so yeah, this is definitely going to be far more what it comes to.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Phoenix France I would say like this is where you're going to have your fields and win mills and capitals that are centuries old. I know you said that you are not necessarily huge foodies when it comes to travel. But there's also I am going to, or the name of this town. So, please forgive me but when you're in on, you can actually go to.
Agent (Fia Bauer): A like a wine Sato but not only do they have like grapes that they're growing? But they also have truffles that they grow there as well. So you'll be able to do that or you could just go on and eating tour. So there's going to be, you know, a walking and eating tour which I have always had a fantastic time on every time I've done one of those Rous been fun.
Customer: Right.
Customer: No, that an eighteen tour will be fine. It's just you know, we don't have to have meals every night on the, on the cruise is what I'm referring to matter. Matter of fact we enjoy a situation where, you know, probably half the time on the cruise we either a more inform or setting as opposed to a coton tie and a, and a four course meal and everything else were you there for 22 and a half hours.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, yeah, there's definitely going to be option.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, no, I understand. That's nice once in a while, but not every night, not very. Oh, yeah, so there's a lot to do like, you can actually do a tour on a stem train that's one of the included excursions with biking. You can do some of the.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I don't know what to call them but there's a lot of like natural.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Carvings out of the mountains that are there that were forged by rivers and so there's definitely a lot more to see than just stay. So I think this itinerary might be a little bit better for you and you don't have to. There are options that do not include lavender if we need to stay far for ray from it. So, is the options that do not include the lavender field? You can go to the pots palace, that's actually included tour. There is a complete separate venard tour and wine tasting. Or you can go to the Roman quid or you can even, you know, do a Cano if you feel extra, extra I guess.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Which word willing or.
Customer: That's probably, that's probably too much activity for us.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I was gonna say a particularly adventurous is what I was looking for but yeah, you've got the fir. Yeah.
Customer: Yes, no, no, I mean 1010 year, ten years ago we would have done that but now, I don't think we're really into that.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Gotcha. So, yes, she can say as far away from the lavender field as she would like and there are pulled the of other options in which to take part in to where it will not cause or to stop breathing. So, we've got plenty and plenty of different things but the Polk pallet is quite possibly the most popular attraction when you are in prev.
Customer: No, okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): So that is definitely, definitely. I think this is a little bit more of what it was that you are thinking of. So, I'm gonna go ahead and send you this itinerary and I could be very wrong but you let me know.
Customer: Okay. Well, what cruise lines would you suggest?
Agent (Fia Bauer): So, I'm gonna send you a couple, so one I'm gonna send you is biking another that I'm gonna send you is Una, world, Una, world is a wonderful they are considered to be a luxury cruise line. They are wonderful. But I particularly think that they really excel in France because they I know this is gonna sound crazy but you world just has a particular French field to me. So, I really think that they would really excel in that particular.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Setting. So, I think that might be something to look at it might be a little, I'm not gonna say that it's a fancy fancy you know, coat and tie type of thing but it definitely has.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): An error about it that's a little bit more opulent so that's why I think they just they just, yeah. They just work so well and France so they're not necessarily stuffy. I have a lot of people asking me if that's what they're like and they're not but they definitely will do a little bit more of the finer things so that might be something that you want to think of you don't have to but that's why I'm gonna send you options.
Customer: Yeah, I would, that's what I've heard.
Customer: A, am I got a with you world. Am I gonna get some casual dinners where I don't have to you know, dress up, my wife had to come back and do her hair and everything else and okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): No, absolutely. There's no dress code so if you can get fancy, nobody's going to tell you can't. But if you would not, if you would rather not eat in the main dining room and you'd rather opt for something a little bit more casual. The menu will be the same. You can certainly do that.
Customer: Okay, good. I mean, no, we want to go to the main Di room several nights or half the nights. We don't want to do it every night.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I understand when I, the last river cruise that I was on last summer, it was very, very similar to where I was just kind of like, okay, this sounds fun but now I'm like, I kinda just want to eat and leave and I really, really appreciate that option.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Fia Bauer): So, yeah, we'll definitely get you some options to pro to Prouse for France and we can.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: How was we? We, we took one backing cruise and we had a great time I mean we went down to Dan and down the Ryan and across the main and but great, we had a great tour direct we talked to Taylors when we got back they're done on a different Viking tour and they hated it because the tour director was horrible, I mean, is that kind of typical?
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Oh, a director can certainly make a break your experience. There's no question about that.
Customer: And the Viking tour, the Viking food on that tour. The food on that biking tour was, we probably would have liked a hair nicer food. I mean, it wasn't bad but you know, it, on a scale of one to ten I would have given it a five. I was kinda a little bit disappointed.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Okay, so then that's something.
Customer: We don't have to have a ten but we would like a seven, right.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yeah, no, we wanna make sure. Okay, so let me, I'm gonna send you some options. Where do we want to go? We want to go.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Go, I don't know what is going on with my computer today, but it has not been cooperating ing that. That's okay, I'm gonna it force it will be it into submission. But I'm gonna send this particular itinerary because I think this is a little bit more of what it is you are looking at. I think the food on the world is going to be more of what you are wanting and it's certainly all inclusive products which is always wonderful and then I'm gonna go ahead and send you another a third option as well. Okay, so, while I'm preparing that, and what else can I do?
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Is there any place, is there any obvious other than Viking? And you know what they appear to be at the ops in to the spectrum as far as quality that one I qual, I don't know but the right word but.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Oh, yeah, I know, love jury. No, I know what you're talking about. Yup! I've got another, I've got a, a third option called Ma, waterways and they are a happy medium life field to tween the two. Yes, correct.
Customer: AMA.
Customer: Okay. Yeah, we looked at them doing the door river cruise with them. But, so, but I mean my wife France rather than portal now. So that's what we're gonna do.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Alright, sounds good. Okay, so I will send you these itineraries and you tell me exactly what it is that looks good and what doesn't look good but we'll take a Pee okeydokey. What other questions you.
Customer: Okay, can we, can we review quickly what we're gonna do so you're gonna change the name. My, my wife the spelling and my wife's first name to D-O-N-N-A you're gonna cancel. You're gonna, can you, okay, and, and the SCO, Iana. One to from Singapore to Singapore, from Sydney to Singapore, right? I don't want to cancel the one were taking in two or three months.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Yes, I'm gonna, yeah, we're gonna get Donna's correct. We're gonna cancel the.
Agent (Fia Bauer): And I'm sending you options.
Agent (Fia Bauer): Right, on 9th of April, 2026 correct? April 9th, 2026 is what we are canceling we will get Donna's name, correct? And I've emailed you ideas for the French river cruises.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay, we're all set I think was you have something else.
Agent (Fia Bauer): I think I'm good for now but I will get the name change to you and the cancellation later this afternoon.
Agent (Fia Bauer): My pleasure sir. I I've got to jump into a meeting now but I'll get everything for you as soon as I'm out of it. Okay, you take care. Bye-bye!
Customer: Okay, thanks for your help. See you.
Customer: Have a good day. I gotta go to okay, thanks, bye.
