Ashley should contact LeAnne and Steven by phone (not email) tomorrow morning by 9 AM ET to discuss their final decision on AirPlus and business class, walk them through the two paths with specific examples of prior bookings' outcomes, and set a firm decision deadline to allow time for computer generation or 90-day assignment.
Full analysis
What happened

LeAnne called seeking clarification on airfare pricing and upgrade options that Ashley had previously explained via email but that LeAnne didn't understand. The customer's October trip requires a 16-hour international flight to Cairo with multiple connections. Ashley had quoted business class at $3,999/person plus $200 insurance and a possible $785+ per-person fair difference fee. LeAnn (the agent) explained that Pavlus's supplier offers two paths: (1) pay $150 for AirPlus to have their computer generate a schedule now with unpredictable quality and possible fair difference charges, or (2) wait until 90 days prior for a free assignment without fair differences but fewer options. The agent also clarified that business class is only guaranteed on the trans-Atlantic leg, not regional flights. LeAnne expressed concern about the cost ($5,600+ per person), the uncertainty of the computer-generated itinerary, and whether seat class would be guaranteed. She left the call saying she and Steven would discuss overnight and contact Ashley tomorrow morning.

Emotional read

LeAnne was frustrated and confused initially, struggling to understand Ashley's prior communication about airfare options. As the agent explained the choices, LeAnne became slightly exasperated—using humor and sarcasm ('Lie to me and tell me I'm dreaming') to cope with the complexity and cost uncertainty. By call end, she was resigned but appreciative, recognizing she needs to discuss with her spouse before deciding.

Emotional arc through the call

LeAnne started confused and mildly frustrated by an unclear prior email, gradually became exasperated and overwhelmed by the cost and complexity of airfare options, then shifted to resigned acceptance and humor as the agent explained each scenario, finally settling into appreciation and deference as she prepared to discuss with her spouse.

How customer sees Pavlus
  • neutral · thanked both agents for their help, addressing LeAnn by name and expressing appreciation multiple times
  • negative · implied frustration that Ashley's prior email explanation was unclear or confusing, requiring a call to understand
  • neutral · accepted that Pavlus's air supplier has complex rules and limited transparency, without blaming Pavlus directly
Process friction
  • customer did not understand Ashley's prior email explanation of airfare options and costs, requiring a follow-up call
  • Ashley was unavailable when customer called (had left for the day), forcing reroute to different agent
  • customer expressed confusion about which agent was where geographically, suggesting unclear team introductions
Value perception

LeAnne questioned whether paying ~$5,600+ per person for business class through Pavlus was worth it when 'you can certainly do things separate from biking as well if you know if there's something better online,' though the agent countered that $5–7k for business class is market rate anyway.

Agent (Leann Wright): For calling pals travel air department. This is LeAnn how may I help you?
Agent (Leann Wright): Hello.
Customer: Hello.
Agent (Leann Wright): Hi, this is LeAnn PAS travel. I couldn't hear you for a minute there.
Customer: Oh, okay. Well this is LeAnn carpenter can you hear are sometimes our area the phone drops?
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay, I.
Agent (Leann Wright): Oh, okay. Maybe you were in the area of the house or something that wasn't transmitting.
Customer: No, I'm trying, I'm in the area where I normally have good reception but I've been, so I've been talking well been emailing with Ashley and Ashley major about our flight. And and I'm not sure if we had, we well we don't really quite understand what she's sent, sent me.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay, well, I can hear you now so that's fine.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Customer: So we, so do you want me to give you our booking number and you can look and see what we're talking about or, or is transfer over to Ashley if it's possible or?
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, let me get that most well Ashley's gone home for the day. So that's not possible at the moment. So let me try and cypher what she's talking about, and if not I know she should be in tomorrow morning, so.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Alright.
Agent (Leann Wright): Let's see. Okay, so, yeah, let me get your booking number.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: It's 900-6345.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): So she has a note here from today. So that's.
Agent (Leann Wright): A couple of hours ago that you were okay paying for the AirPlus with an E. E. And that you asked about upgrading to business class premium code. He's not offered his rates for business. Right? Okay, business class is $3,999 a person plus $200 insurance increase and then there was like some fair differences on top of that you'd have to pay, that just says the cheapest one is 785 a percent.
Customer: Well.
Customer: Not available, right.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Okay, so that's my question on, on it was, okay, so we had airfare listed on our.
Agent (Leann Wright): LeAnn did you? Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Hello.
Agent (Leann Wright): You're cutting out. I'm not hearing you. There are, okay.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: So, so our contract thing, our statement said okay we've already, we've already paid $1,399 for air.
Agent (Leann Wright): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Customer: Alright. So explain the differential that why we would be paying eight almost $800 possibly per person additional and when.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, they don't.
Agent (Leann Wright): Alright. Go ahead. They don't always have flights within their contracted rate. So, if a human being is searching for the flights, they will add add-on. How very much the fair difference is to that. If you just let the computer generate something, the computer might find flights that cost biking more. But they don't charge you that. So, you can certainly.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Have the computer generate something. But if you don't like it and they have to change the flights, then you're kind of, you know, stuck paying a fair difference to whatever the flights are, that you choose. But, hopefully, it would be something you like. So, they need anything you're going in October. So it's not you know, we see the fair differences on everything a lot of times when you're booking way, way in advance. When people try to get air the very day it comes out 330 days in advance. So for them to say, they don't have anything without a fair difference, five months out seems odd. But there are some itineraries that do that they just price higher.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): Than what biking charged you and so.
Agent (Leann Wright): You know, unfortunately they pass that along to you for human being is doing the searching. They're gonna calculate that in. And, and charge you, but if you have the computer pick something you might get away with not having that. So that so like Ashley said there's two options you could either pay for the AirPlus.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): And have the computer generate a schedule for you in a couple of days and we can hope you like what the computer gave you and then you'll have those flights without the fair difference. If you want to change those flights then you would change them to whatever the human being fine to you and whatever the fair difference is on the particular flights you are choosing. If you if you don't want to pay for AirPlus about ninety days prior, they assign a scheduled to you and at that point they'll send it over and.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): You know, it would not have a fair difference. You can certainly pay the AirPlus at that time and you know, have them search for flights then but at that point, you know, ninety days prior there might be fewer options available so it's, so, it's up to you. I mean, the AirPlus is nonrefundable once you pay it. So.
Customer: There right.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): We can pay, you know, if you want to pay for the AirPlus in the business class and the $200 insurance increase that you have. You could either, if you want particular flights, you pay for an their plus or we can just have their computer.
Agent (Leann Wright): Come up with something and cross your fingers and toes, and whatever you got. And hope you get a schedule you like, so, I, you know, I don't know.
Customer: Yup.
Customer: But I'm guessing there's no way to give an approximation now that like, this is a sixteen hour flight for bridge in Virginia that stops twelve different times.
Agent (Leann Wright): No, I mean, if they're, their computers just gonna randomly generate something and they have no way of knowing what the computer's going to generate it. We often have several couples traveling together and they'll get different flights so there's no way for them to predict which schedule you're going to get and sometimes people get very good schedules, like I said, sometimes we have two couples traveling together and one of them get the fabulous schedule and one of them does not and there's no Rimer reason why one got one thing, why the other one got something else, so.
Customer: Hey.
Agent (Leann Wright): They're not going to be able to tell you know. Oh, you're going to get a non-stop for sure or no, I know you're gonna change planes seventeen times and you've got nineteen hour layover and, you know, they just, they're not gonna know.
Customer: So it's a pure cramp shoot.
Agent (Leann Wright): It is, yeah.
Agent (Leann Wright): But I mean you know, if we're going to get the schedule and if you're gonna pay for our plus, if we're going to get the schedule in a couple of days, it might be worth.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): Seeing what it gives you because with any luck, maybe get something that you like and if you don't, then we can have them go back to the drawing board and look again. But if you do change to something else, if you'd be paying a fair difference at that point, so.
Agent (Leann Wright): Might be worth the gamble just to have their computer spit something out and hope for the best. And then knowing, I mean, I don't know if I haven't looked.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: And then if we, and then if we don't like it, question it.
Agent (Leann Wright): But she says $3,999 a person on top of the $1,399. So that's about $5,400 roughly per flights, plus the 150 that you'd be paying for AirPlus.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): So, I, I'll just say maybe 5600 a person for flight, so.
Customer: Yeah.
Agent (Leann Wright): You can certainly do things separate from biking as well if you know if there's something better online, but I think between you know, $5 $7,000 is about what we're seeing for business class. Anyway, so, I don't know that you're gonna get a better deal if you don't do the flights of king.
Customer: Yeah, no, no, I that I'm definitely going in this part of the world to I don't wanna mess with. I'm not rave to to have a, yeah, a chance that.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Customer: Something could go wrong with, with our one of the ends or the other. And.
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Customer: So, yeah, no my, my biggest concern is I have major, I've had any replacement. So I'm concerned about lag room, and knees.
Agent (Leann Wright): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Leann Wright): Well if you pay for the business class. Anyway, regardless of what the schedule you get, you would have the leg room and you know, so.
Customer: So that's why I.
Customer: I just didn't want to pay another $8,000.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, I don't, I mean, and she doesn't even say what the schedule is for that. She says the least expensive one is 785 but who knows maybe the best one is another 5000 or something like she didn't go into detail and you know, I don't know.
Customer: Plus plus plus more for insurance.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: No, I appreciate it there. Alright we appreciate you. You waiting on it right now.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah.
Agent (Leann Wright): Sure.
Customer: Just, just trying to give us a, yeah, we're just trying, okay, trying to figure out what the San hell are we gonna do. So if we did business class then would we do it without having the AirPlus or.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah.
Agent (Leann Wright): Well, that's up, up to you. You could pay for the business class and the insurance increase if you pay for AirPlus their computer can generate something for you now and maybe you'll like it or if you don't pay for plus it'll be ninety days prior and.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Oh, okay.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): You like it but if you know, if you wanna or if you want us to work on it now we can do that. But they've already told Ashley you'll be paying extra on top of that. So if you could certainly see what the computer gives you and I don't know what it'll be but maybe, maybe it'll be good.
Customer: Yeah, probably not.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Everybody turned.
Agent (Leann Wright): Is it not you know you're paying extra so right, well I, I've seen people get fabulous things from the computer but I've also seen the opposite. So I don't know but you know I, with any luck maybe.
Customer: Right.
Customer: And I, and I appreciate that, I appreciate that. Okay, so so, we could say, alright let's go with AirPlus and let the computer do it now it so we can see what it is and then we can go, oh, well, now we're gonna, now we'll change it over to business class.
Agent (Leann Wright): Mm-hmm.
Customer: Is, is that with?
Agent (Leann Wright): Well, so, no, I mean, sometimes they have certain flights in economy and different flights and business class. So, you're not necessarily gonna get the same flights. If you just keep economy, and then you upgrade, you might not get the same flights.
Customer: No.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): So you, I guess you'd need to know which class you want for sure. If you want the business we can do that and you can either pay $150 and have them, we can either work on it now and you'll pay the additional cost plus the fair difference or you can wait and see what you get.
Agent (Leann Wright): Or you can wait until ninety days prior or it you know, we can pay or plus and get a scheduled in economy but if you do that and decide to upgrade there's no way to know for sure if you're going to have the same flights available. So it may or may not be the same thing.
Customer: Oh, oh, you mean the same flights that we're on economy in the business but, but.
Agent (Leann Wright): It right?
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, sometimes they have some flights a lot and economy, and different flights a lot and business class. So it might not translate over to do this exact same schedule.
Customer: Right. But if we said, okay, we're going with the business class and paying all the big bucks then everything's in business class.
Agent (Leann Wright): Mm-hmm.
Agent (Leann Wright): No, they guarantee it over the water only on the longest flight is where they guarantee it. The short flight could be in economy or could be in premium. They, you sometimes get business class on every leg. But they don't guarantee it. And it actually stays that when once you get an air schedule it'll state at the bottom that any upgraded classes surface is guaranteed only on the trans Atlantic flights. The other flight is, they don't guarantee it. So till you see the schedule.
Customer: And, and time we know, we have no idea how long the trans of landing flight is.
Agent (Leann Wright): Exactly. Yeah, you could be changing, yeah. Yeah, you're starting out in the east coast but they could send you backwards a little bit through Chicago ohare or they could, you know, you could be going somewhere through the east coast with new work or you know maybe Washington, Dallas or JFK or Atlanta depending on the airline that they give you.
Customer: Right.
Customer: Oh, don't fine word? Don't bad.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): And.
Customer: And then, there's, and then, I, we have no idea if it goes to, if it goes to London and then from London to karo is the, is, is, I would, would guess is a fairly significant long flight also.
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): I would think so, yeah.
Customer: So, you know, then, then and you're stuck in economy when you've paid, you know, so.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, it's about five hours. I'm showing from London to ka road just as a example. So, I'm sure it's probably about the same distance from Paris Kiro. So, any of those things could happen. But, I mean, it just depends where you're gonna change one time. You're gonna change lins two times and.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Okay, well.
Customer: Yeah.
Customer: So, it's still at least six hours from the east coast to London or Frankfort.
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Customer: Another five or six hours down the ti.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah.
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Customer: So we're looking at a.
Customer: A good 1112 hour flight. Best case scenario.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah, that's case scenario.
Customer: Okay, lie to me and tell me I'm dreaming.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): We're resurrecting that super sonic thing that took you know, three hours to get to London or whatever it is that would be great. Yeah, or maybe, or maybe we'll put you on blue origin and one of those that would be get you there faster.
Customer: Yeah, we're in the phone for that.
Customer: That's good though you get two points for that one. Yeah, so you were looking, I mean we supply from the west coast offer New Zealand. So, we're looking at that kind of a Florida.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): That's right. That's, I would think that's even worse than this but if this is still long.
Customer: Yeah, yeah, yeah, LA LeAnn was fourteen hours.
Agent (Leann Wright): Yeah.
Customer: So, okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Well, I mean, also this thing L. there's not a lot of places to stop so you've got one super very long flight whereas.
Customer: No.
Agent (Leann Wright): Going to Chiro I mean, there's multiple options throughout Europe on the way to that, they could make you change planes multiple times. So.
Customer: Yeah, you're.
Customer: Yeah, you there. And I'll put you on the spot again and I greatly apologize ahead of time who does from an airline standpoint who does vite usually fly to that part of the world, usually.
Agent (Leann Wright): That's okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Actually, they book all of the airlines, the I know.
Customer: Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): To Europe we see them booking nearly everything on Air Canada like they said but I don't know about kyro if it's anything different but they must have a really good contact with their Canada because just about everybody gets there Canada or LeAnn so we see a lot of that so you might get something like that you go through frankford.
Customer: Okay, but, and not that it matter. It just, just curiosity, just, what are you thinking, dear. I don't know we'll have to discuss and we'll get back to Ashley and and what time does she come in? Do you know?
Agent (Leann Wright): Right.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay.
Agent (Leann Wright): She, yeah, she comes in, she's an hour ahead of me. She comes in at 7:00 AM Mountain Time, she's in Texas, I'm in New Mexico. So she comes in I get 8:00 AM her time so Central Time 8:00 AM, she should be here. So so you're on the east coast. So she's only an hour behind you.
Customer: Oh, you're on the west.
Customer: Oh.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yeah, alright. Okay, yeah. Well, no, we were thinking you were in, we're, you all were out of pr. Well, she it, yeah, so Steven and I thought she was in Albuquerque probably too cause we, alright.
Agent (Leann Wright): I'm in Albuquerque. Yeah, I'm here. Yeah, he's yeah, she's not she's over on the east coast and a tiny tiny little town called Colleen near Austin.
Customer: Yeah, okay, alright well, we appreciate your help grant way her name is LeAnn it. You did help very much. Thank you so much for your help. Alright.
Agent (Leann Wright): Oh, my pleasure. Thank you.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay. Alright. Well okay, now you got a lot of stuff to think about and.
Customer: Yup. Yeah, it'll be, it'll be an interesting discussion tonight. Alright, thank you.
Agent (Leann Wright): Okay. Oh, my pleasure. Thank you.
