“we're ready to book this cruise but we wanted to make another change”
Send Bill written confirmation of the deposit and insurance charges processed today, E-check account used, and the June check-in date (around June 15) to assess Sydney extension clearance status before final payment on June 30th.
Full analysis
What happened
Bill called to finalize a cruise booking for December. He requested a flight routing change from Philadelphia to Washington/Dallas (citing the direct flight to Barcelona as the original reason for Philadelphia), which the agent approved without cost impact. The agent explained the cabin assignment process—the preferred category is sold out but Viking will oversell by a few cabins and upgrade if needed. Bill confirmed he's on a waitlist for a Sydney extension; the agent proposed giving Viking until June to clear it, then booking independently through the port if necessary. Bill decided to pay deposit and insurance today and confirmed via his wife the correct E-check account number. The call ended with a June check-in planned around final payment on June 30th.
Emotional read
Bill started the call slightly frustrated with audio quality but quickly moved past that. He became engaged and collaborative once discussing the cruise details, asking practical clarifying questions about cabin assignments, the extension waitlist, and payment logistics. His tone was warm and joking by the end ('we'll rob the bank'), suggesting comfort and confidence in the planner.
Emotional arc through the call
Started slightly frustrated with audio quality, quickly resolved it, then became progressively more engaged and collaborative as cruise details were confirmed, ending on a warm and joking note.
How customer sees Pavlus

Customer: Hello. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Hi, this is Leah tablet. Customer: Can you hear me? Agent (Lee Alvarez): Yes, I can hear you. Customer: I can hardly hear you lee. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Hello. Agent (Lee Alvarez): I can hear you fine. So it must must be on your end. Customer: Okay. Yeah, it probably is. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay. Customer: So, go ahead. Agent (Lee Alvarez): You want to try calling me right back. Okay. Okay. Customer: No, I've got, I figured it out now. I can hear you very, very clear. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay, perfect. So I was returning your call. Customer: So what I realize is that I finally went back and looked at the itinerary we're ready to to book this cruise but we wanted to make another change. So, I think you probably booked the flight of Philadelphia because that's what we're doing in our trip this December. But we always like flying out of Washington Dallas. The only reason we're doing Philadelphia is because it was a direct flight, the Barcelona. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay. Yeah, we can change it to las. It's not gonna change the cost. Customer: Okay. Yeah, so, and the only, the thing is, I didn't see that, I mean, there's no way you can tell me my room is our cabin number now, right? Agent (Lee Alvarez): Because there's no DV. Basically, the DV two category is sold out. But they're gonna oversell it by a few cabins. If none become available then they upgrade you. Customer: Oh, okay, sounds good. So, and, and then they're, we're already on a wait list for Sydney for that extension and somehow you can allow us to do an extension through you. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Yeah. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Yeah, so basically what we'll do is if, is Viking can't clear you on their extension as we get a little bit closer. I would say probably by. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Let's let's say in June, if they haven't cleared you then we'll go ahead and just book it outside of biking and it's yeah, it's extremely easy. The I've stayed there right at the port a couple of times, it's extremely easy to get around, we can do all of that. It's not hard at all. So, if we if we need to do that we will but let's give them a little time and see if they have a spot that opens. Customer: Okay. Customer: Okay, alright sounds good. So, in order to book it, I understand we have to pay the whatever fee by the, bye by the more my question is, do we pay for insurance now too? Agent (Lee Alvarez): So if you want the insurance, you pay for the insurance. Yeah, at the time that you want it added, so you can pay the deposit only now and you can add the insurance on later. But the insurance, if you don't pay for it within ten days of deposit it will not cover conditions. Customer: Yeah, so, I, my thought is just go ahead and make the booking and the paper insurance and have everything covered. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay, perfect. So then today it would be the deposit and the insurance. Customer: Correct. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay. And are you gonna do E. or? Agent (Lee Alvarez): Cause the E. check, you get the 3.3 percent discount. Customer: My, my wife's did here. And the thing about the E., we need to be able to tell her what account. So now the question comes up, is it either, just pay credit card and we'll get, well, we get. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Well, I have the E. check we use last time if it's the same account. Customer: Well, you have to go well you don't know which one sorry about that. What? Agent (Lee Alvarez): Oh, gotcha. Okay. Customer: What's the account number? Agent (Lee Alvarez): It's 08171340. Customer: Yes, she's given the green light. Agent (Lee Alvarez): That's the right one. Okay. Customer: Yeah. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay, perfect. So, I will go ahead and get the deposit and the insurance payment in and then I will keep an eye out on the extension. So, right before your final payment if the extension hasn't cleared then we'll go ahead and, and figure out how to do the independent extension at that point. So let's plan on talking in June. Customer: Okay, and the final payments due, I see on the 30th of June. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Yeah, yup. So we'll get that all squared away before the final payment. Customer: Yeah, okay. Customer: Alright, we'll go Rob the bank. Agent (Lee Alvarez): Okay, I won't tell. Customer: Alright lee. Thank you very much. Agent (Lee Alvarez): So my pleasure. Bye-bye. Customer: Have a great day. Bye-bye.
