“I just kinda feel really anxious right now... but we'll just have to think of extra additional things to take with us that could help us.”
Next best action
After Mable's July 25th departure, Rose should proactively reach out on July 27th to confirm the couple successfully boarded and arrived in Amsterdam on time, then follow up post-cruise to gather feedback on the contingency plan's effectiveness and any additional insurance claims if applicable.
Full analysis
What happened

Mable called with urgent concerns that flight groundings would prevent her and her husband from reaching their Uni World river cruise departing Amsterdam on July 27th. The agent, Rose, confirmed Mable's existing Uni World insurance covers travel delays and walked her through a multi-step contingency plan: contact Delta at the airport to reschedule to arrive in Amsterdam by morning of July 27th (or July 26th if possible), tell Delta about the cruise requirement so they route appropriately, and use Pavlus's emergency line if needed. Mable and Rose discussed airport arrival timing (now targeting 8:00 AM instead of 10:00 AM), TSA procedures, luggage strategy (two backpacks, minimal rolling luggage), and confirmed Mable had completed Delta app pre-check and had all documents (cruise ticket, passport, emergency contacts). The call concluded with Mable reassured but still cautious, promising to follow up with Rose or colleague Denise after departure to confirm everything went smoothly.

Emotional read

Mable started highly anxious and worried about losing her cruise due to flight groundings, repeatedly expressing fear and uncertainty ('I feel really anxious right now'). Throughout the call, her anxiety persisted but gradually shifted toward cautious preparation as the agent walked through contingency steps. By the end, she was calmer—organizing logistics, confirming preparation details, and joking about potentially calling the agent in tears—indicating she moved from panic to resigned but methodical readiness.

Emotional arc through the call

Mable began the call highly anxious and overwhelmed by worst-case scenarios (stranded in Amsterdam, losing the cruise, competing with Olympics travelers), but gradually became more methodical and composed as Rose provided concrete action steps, peaking in relative confidence by discussing her detailed packing and document preparation.

How customer sees Pavlus
  • positive · praised colleague Denise by name for being 'very helpful' with Delta paperwork and flight updates when Mable had printing issues
  • positive · indicated trust in Pavlus's emergency line as a backup resource if Delta rebooking fails ('is this where I call you guys to see if you all can handle it from there')
  • positive · thanked Rose for walking through contingency plan and promised to update her or send email after trip ('I may give you a call to let you know that everything went fine')
Value perception

Mable did not explicitly compare Pavlus to going direct, but implicitly valued having Rose and the emergency line as a resource to fall back on if Delta could not rebook her, suggesting she sees the agency as a safety net in crisis situations.

Agent (Rose Morrissey): Hi, Mabel! This is rose.
Customer: Hi rose. Hey, listen I'm just calling for a little bit of concern with the news of a lot of flights being grounded and I was just wondering, I mean I'm gonna look again at the trial I know I read it like briefly skim through it you know the good parts of course but does it cover by chance, I mean I'm afraid we're gonna lose our cruise because we won't be able to get there.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Oh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, I just emailed you an aon insurance coverage and how much it's gonna cost, but it'll cover delay. Let me see, let me see.
Customer: Okay.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): It covers a trip insurance will cover.
Customer: Let me get to my office real quick cause I need to write this stuff down. Hold on, hold on. Cause I'm walking around here, okay.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Oh, wait, but, but look at the email, it's all in the email. Yeah.
Customer: Okay. Now, is there a, a reason why the other insurance? What does the, I guess, maybe right now, I'm going blind with bogs and I thought maybe that the.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah. You don't have, you don't have, I don't think you have insurance.
Customer: Okay. No, I did. I bought insurance.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): From hold on a second, let me look.
Customer: I believe it was.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Oh, yeah. You did buy uni world uni. Wor also, you have insurance, you have insurance with Una world. Yeah, yeah, that's with the cruise.
Customer: Exactly, I have the insurance and so, so if, okay, so if it's with the cruise and they're aware of what's going on right now let's just say I lose my, my going there like, but I can't make it because I can't even get a flight and, and I'm sure it might even affect them if they get the blue screen but will I have the opportunity to book another, you know, in other words, book another for trip to make up for something I lost and so.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes, yes.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, so here's the thing when you're at the airport. You'll know when you're at the airport, right? So.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Well hopefully so.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): You're gonna call, you're gonna be right there with I think your airline is delta, right?
Customer: Yes, it is.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay. So you're gonna try to reschedule everything with delta, okay. But but I think for pates travel you purchased a ticket from us there should be an emergency line on that.
Customer: Oh.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Yes. I wrote that down, I wrote that down but here's the thing.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, good, good, good so, that emergency lot. Yeah.
Customer: Here's the thing if I were to, I want to continue with the delta flight that you're just telling me, let's just say they rebook me and they go, oh, in about two days or the next day. Well, that's gonna leave us losing the hotel at the Hilton, because then we would have to go directly to the boat and then we don't even know what flight they'll put us on, because there's gonna be crowds of people wanting to reclaim, you know, there's people wanting to go to the Olympics and so, if they have to go via Amsterdam and take €1 train from there, I can imagine the madness and we could still lose our then we're going to be stranded an Amsterdam.
Customer: If the, if the boat leaves then we have to find a way to find where in other words, I think we already lose time on that cruise if we did that and I just don't, have to that don't, so we'll just say, oh, we'll, magically put you on this one.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Well, you'll, okay. So this is what you need. This is, this is what, yeah, well, just when you get on, when you find out from delta, when you're going to get there, you're gonna know if you're gonna make that cruise, okay? Tell delta when they reschedule you just say I have a river cruise that I need to catch out of Amsterdam and I need to, you're gonna, if you don't make it for the hotel, don't worry about because you're doing that one pre night. The only thing is you're gonna lose that money for the hotel, okay? So, but try to get there on the day of the cruise, even, which will be.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yes, mm-hmm.
Customer: It's gonna be Saturday. Mm-hmm.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): The day of the cruise is the twenty seventh, twenty seventh of July. So make sure that delta gets you into Amsterdam on the twenty seventh morning of the twenty seventh, mid morning or the latest 1:00 in the afternoon.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, and then you're just gonna go from the airport to uni world to your cruise but you know, the ultimate thing is to make, you know, have delta get you in the day before of the cruise, we don't know this, I mean, but if they can get you.
Customer: Well, yeah, we don't know this yet and you're exactly right. Mm-hmm.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): But, if they can, if you can't get on, then if they can't get you to Amstrad them on your flight, on direct flight to debt to Amsterdam, tell them to route you another way that will arrive in Amsterdam morning of the twenty seventh. That's all you got to, tell them, tell them you got a cruise, you have to catch that river boat and if they can't and if they're looking at their computer, they can't seem to find anything. Then say, get me there on the twenty sixth if possible.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Mm-hmm. Okay.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): But they'll probably and if they can't get you on the direct flight from where are you at? Let me.
Customer: San to I, you know, there are flights that could at least, would they accommodate me with another airline?
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes, they are. Because their flight is canceled. It's, you know, it says, if you can't get me on this flight you need to get me on a flight, American airlines, united, whatever airline it's your, it, they're responsible to get you on because they cancel their flight.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: I see now in any event there's a long line and I'm, you know, we hope to be there really early. In fact, I think I'm gonna change our time from leaving the house at ten. The flight leaves at 12:55. I'm thinking now that we should be there at least by 9:00 I think we're going to have to be there an hour even more earlier.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Oh, Jeez get there earlier.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): I would if you can get there at 8:00 that would be great.
Customer: I think so too. That's you know, even eight, I think you're right because I may be stuck in a long line and I'm just curious to know if I'm stuck in a long line that just looks almost helpless. Is it possible to call your emergency, you know, line to see if they could even help me a little bit to break through that line, just in case to see what's going on because it's gonna be hard to get information.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Hello.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Well this is what you do they're not gonna let you move forward have your husband stay in line you can run to the counter and say you know we're on this flight from san San to Detroit. Are we still on time period? You're only asking a question. You're not cutting. Okay.
Customer: Tion mm-hmm.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Oh, yeah, I'm gonna ask a question and then if they tell me, well, you know, if we're canceling flights and all this stuff because we're ground it. I guess my next question would be will, will you be able to reroute me on another flight?
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Customer: With another airline and if they tell me no is this where I call you guys to see if you all can handle it from there even if we have to, you know. Okay, okay. Well I just need to know what plan AB and see is and we have to go all the way to plan Z. Then that's what we'll do but I just kinda feel really anxious right now.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, I think they'll I think they'll fix all that. I think they'll fix that all of this situation by your time you leave on the twenty fifth.
Customer: Well, I hope so. Because I have to tell you, I think we're still gonna be, we could be bumped off because there's Olympics going on and I don't know there might be a, a fight for luckily we are traveling with two backpacks on our one each. We don't have any rolling. What do you call luggage other than the two major ones. And that's it. But everything is going to be right on our back and of course my pers hanging on the side so our hands will be free, we, we're going to be just as efficient as possible, we're taking extra little clothing.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Well.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Customer: You know and I'm even thinking about taking a little bit of extra euros just in case there's no credit card operation. So, also, I think we have enough right now and I don't know we're just gonna, we're just gonna have to just think of extra additional things to take with us that could help us. I don't know. It's just, I have our little cards everything with the emergency number, with uni world's number. We have all everything I printed out including our cruise ticket, we even have extras, even extra passport pictures. I feel like we're set, it's just, it's just looks like it's gonna be a little bummer if you know, it doesn't work out and we lose, if we lose that cruise I'm just wondering and they still say, well, you, we, we're gonna go ahead, we can.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): You're all set. You're all set.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Customer: You know reroute will they be able to refund us even the stud guard one because we have the Fundy. One where we're flying out of stud guard.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Oh, yeah, they'll be able to, for the, for the river let's say you don't make it is going to be like a travel delay. They'll, they can give you credit instead of a refund a credit towards another river cruise.
Customer: Okay.
Customer: Yeah, now that I kinda read about that. Yes. Okay, okay, well, we'll see what happens and just, just say a little prayer.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, mm-hmm, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah. Hope for the best, hope for the best you know, don't.
Customer: At what is it five in the morning for you, 8:00 for me we'll probably.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh yeah, you know what? Just, just, you know what, I would just get to the airport early, get early.
Customer: Yes, that's what we're going to have to do. I'm gonna call my friend who's gonna give us a ride cause I told her 10:00 AM is fine but now I think we're going to have to be there right at eight. So, you know, we're just twenty minutes away but mm-hmm.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, go there early because remember you have to go through the TSA you know, that line, so you're gonna go through several lines, checking in line, the TSA line and then you're at the gate.
Customer: Mm-hmm.
Customer: Right. And then the one in Detroit would be going through, well, no, we don't go through customs yet there.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): No, no, you're just connecting.
Customer: Yeah, it's just gonna be a connecting flight which is like a four hour delay and I was wondering if it was, cause we had to go through uh-oh no, I think that's the one I'll return. Okay, well, we should be able to be okay, it'll be a long flight. So, well, I'm already predicting we're sitting on the airplane but well, we'll see what happens and, you know, don't be surprised if I call you crying.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, just hang tight don't, don't let anything. Bugg you just, just go with the, go go. I always have leave your husband at the on standing of the line. That's what I did. I, and I'll run towards the, the desk and say, you know, I'm on this slide. Are we still on, I'm just like, you know. And then you know, the guy will just looking, look at your flight. He says yes, you're still on. Then you go back and wait in line.
Customer: Okay, and I will.
Customer: Okay, well, hopefully nobody gets mad at me and says hey, get in line if you want your question, answer. I, I'm usually they have people there, I've seen them.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): You know what? I had that guy, there was this one guy he was pissed off at me because I was pushy and I said, look, I'm just asking a question and he says, I don't care about your question. I said, oh, that's sad. Are, are you going on vacation? Have a great time.
Customer: Well, we'll see.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): And the guy he answer, he answered my question. The agent answered my question and then I turned around this it to him. You know, what have a great time.
Customer: That's all you could say.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): That's all you can say, I mean, it was only like a minute. Not even a minute. All the, he only, he looked at my passport and checked the flight. And he says, yes, it's on, it's going, it's on time.
Customer: And you know we already, we already they had a thing there on a the delta app. Actually, Denise the other gal the that helps you all out. She told us to make sure that we get it on the app and then we got in yesterday and it had to go ahead and pre checke your passport.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes. Yes. Put all the passport information in there, yeah, yeah.
Customer: So we went on ahead and did that already, we did that already we did the pre passport thing and you know, we just have to check into luggage. So if we have the boarding pass, we might be able to go to the kiosk and so we'll see. We'll see what happens. I will.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Just, just keeping man. I'm glad you download the app because you're going to get a notification 24 hours prior to your departure to check-in to get your boarding pass. So then, when you check-in you'll get your boarding pass you can have it on your phone or you can have it printed.
Customer: Yes.
Customer: Yes, okay.
Customer: Okay. Yeah, either one. Okay.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay. So then you check-in, are you checking Ino a a piece of luggage or you just pack. Pack.
Customer: It's gonna be two pieces of. Oh, there's no way we'd have everything for two weeks clothing backpack, the backpacks are just more they're not too big or anything. They're, we rolled up a a rain code cause we saw that it was not a rain cope but you know just a real thin, a little rain jacket that you, we rolled it up like a, and put it in there, and a real thin little sweater just in case it gets cold, you know just little things like that are Bruce's medication, my medication and just pretty much just useful things that we could possibly use some, you know, wet ones and extra underwear and socks, and so a shirt, a fresh shirt, just be in case it's all rolled up, I don't care if we look wrinkled.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah.
Customer: And, you know, basically, just, just little basic needs, even some treats and stuff, a little bit of food. And that's it, and that's not food. It's all like, trail mixes is what they are. Trail mix and things like that, so.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah. Okay, just, just take extra close too, you know. Yeah, okay.
Customer: Yes. Yeah, yeah. Well, I'll have blue jeans and you know, blue jeans can go for several days if you're strat it's just the tops and underwear and socks, you know that's basically that and a little talcum powder, I think that should go a long way or tooth Frush so, you know, we have things to fresh it up. If we had two and just a little first aid kit with, you know, itch cream. You know, little small little bottles, just small ones. Even a small little mini first aid kit for anything including heartburn. So we've got it all medical and, you know, things that we know that'll go through so but.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Uh-huh.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, well, what, you know, you're prepared Mable so let's hope for the best. Okay.
Customer: Hello. Yes. Well, thank you rose and I may give you a, send you an email or give you a call to let you know that everything went fine, and that we're sitting on the airplane or whatever, I mean, I'll leave you a message if I have to and I also have Denise's number, I don't know her last name. She was very helpful too on the delta thing when I couldn't get the copy the way it was, printed weird and I couldn't print a good copy. So she was able to check and even see an update any kind of changes. I think they were by minutes or whatever and I'll let her know too. She was very helpful. You just let her know. Okay? So, anyways, well, very good, well, thank you rose, I appreciate it and I.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Denise. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Yeah.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, I will.
Customer: I'm gonna make a few phone calls to just let people be aware cause you know we've got pet sitters and everything aligned. So let me see what happens then. Okay, very good. Wish just the best. Thank you rose. Have a blessed day. Alright, bye-bye.
Agent (Rose Morrissey): Okay, take care. Yes, you too. Bye-bye.
